As Australia's first bank, Westpac has been serving customers since 1817! Now that Westpac has merged with St George to create Australia's largest financial services company. Westpac was also named Australia’s Best Major Bank in 2021 after scoring the same win the previous year. To top it off it also scored a 2023 Mozo People's Choice Award for both Internet Banking Experience and Excellent Customer Service.
These people are merciless. They have no care of concern for their customers. They also have no interest in helping or negotiating with you if you have less than a 1 million dollar loan with them. With a mortgage of $475K, I was told that I was an "easy loss" for the bank.
Very friendly staff at branches and online banking is user friendly and not too complicated

The tax office gave us the largest taxi bill of our lives when we’re not even rich and I cried for about a week before having to sort out 2 personal loans to pay for it. Westpac were so lovely in helping us work out the best method. This was so upsetting so they helped us work it All out.
The credit card gives a significant points valued reward and is super easy to manage online. Unfortunately the app crashes constantly.
Likes: physical branch/ATMs everywhere (easy access), budget/expense tracker, helpful staff on site, can deposit cash using ATMs, cardless transactions, popular as part of Big 4 Dislikes: zero interest for everyday choice account, unable to resolve some disputes (e.g. scamming), closing branches
Poor communication and follow up
Westpac Bank Of Melbourne was combative and dismissive of my claim for earthquake damage to my property and I feel they knocked back claims to make the policy holder go to the Ombudsman and so delay payment -very cynical and underhanded treatment of the Insured after 10 yrs holding that policy and other house policies with them for twenty five years -they are not trustworthy
