Our verdict

Everyday Comprehensive Car Insurance from Woolworths is a straightforward, budget-friendly policy that covers the essentials such as protection against theft, accidents and natural disasters. And while it offers some interesting discount perks, it’s not big in the way of coverage perks.

If you’re a regular Woolies shopper, you’ll probably appreciate the extra value from the monthly 10% grocery discount that you can use on one shop per month, up to a maximum of $50 savings per month or $600 per year. There’s also the Drive Less Pay Less option to help low-mileage drivers save on premiums.

However, that’s where the perks end. Hire car cover after an accident, for example, costs extra – whereas many other comprehensive policies include this automatically, especially if you’re not at fault. And while you can add excess-free windscreen cover, it would be a nice touch if they included a limited repair option as standard.

But of course, this is not a bells-and-whistles policy, but a flexible one designed to meet your budget where it is. So those extras are there if you want cover for them (at an extra cost), but you can skip them if you want to save on your premium.

All in all, if you’re after straightforward coverage with some built-in savings, Everyday Comprehensive Car Insurance from Woolworths could be a good fit – particularly if you’re already shopping there regularly.
