How Bankwest’s new credit card changes can affect your next holiday
From 9 December 2019, customers with a Bankwest credit card will now have a different set of conditions to meet if they want to activate their complimentary travel insurance.
Previously, cardholders would need to meet a minimum spend criteria or book a return trip to Australia on their plastic in order to receive cover.
Customers will now simply need to have an open, eligible card for travelling.
Bankwest also made adjustments to their level and length of cover, stating they will now only provide cover for the basics for a shorter period of time (6 months for World Mastercard and 31 days for Gold and Platinum Mastercard), however customers will have the option to upgrade to comprehensive or extended cover.
“While it’s great to see Bankwest making it easier for customers to take advantage of their complimentary travel insurance, it’s still worth bearing in mind that the extent of cover has been reduced,” said Mozo Director, Kirsty Lamont.
“In this case, consider taking out a stand-alone travel insurance policy to ensure that you’ll be covered, no matter what you get up to on your holiday.”
