If you’re serious about scoring some travel perks, there’s no better place to start than the AMEX Qantas Ultimate card. Not only can you score a massive 100,000 bonus points, but you’ll also earn 1.5 points per $1 you spend. You’ll also get two complimentary airport lounge passes each year, a free Qantas epiQure membership and $450 worth of annual travel credit, which neatly cancels out the annual fee.
NAB - Qantas Rewards Signature Card
- 100,000 bonus Qantas Points when you spend $4,000 on everyday purchases within 60 days
- 1 point per $1 up to $5,000 per month (then 0.5 points per $1 up to $20,000)
- $395 annual fee
Another option with a generous 100,000 bonus points on offer upfront, the NAB Qantas Rewards Signature is great for big spenders who love to jetset overseas. There’s plenty of value packed into this plastic, including a free Qantas Frequent Flyer membership, complimentary overseas travel insurance, and a concierge service. Plus for further points earning power, you can add a supplementary card to your account.
ANZ - Frequent Flyer Black
- 75,000 bonus Qantas points when you spend $2,500 in the first 3 months
- $0 annual fee in the first year ($425 after)
- 1 point per $1 up to $7,500 per month (then 0.5 points per $1, uncapped)
Starting off with a cool 75,000 bonus Qantas points, as long as you spend $2,500 in the first 3 months, the ANZ Frequent Flyer Black also comes with 2 Qantas Club Lounge visits each year, plus complimentary travel insurance and a concierge service. You can also have up to 9 additional cardholders, so the whole family can contribute to the points earning pool. To sweeten the deal a little more, you’ll get all this with no annual fee in the first year.
VELOCITY
Virgin Money - Virgin Australia Velocity High Flyer Card
- Earn up to 80,000 bonus Velocity Points
- 1 point per $1 spent up to $8,000 (then 0.5 points per $1 uncapped)
- $129 Virgin Australia Gift Voucher each year
If you prefer to fly Virgin, check out the Virgin Money Virgin Australia Velocity High Flyer card. You can begin your points stack with 80,000 bonus points, then earn 1 point per $1 spent, up to $8,000 a month. You’ll also get a bunch of perks aimed at frequent travellers, including complimentary travel insurance, and two complimentary Virgin Australia domestic Lounge passes each year.
American Express - Velocity Platinum Card
- 50,000 bonus Velocity points when you apply online and spend $3,000 within the first 3 months
- 1.5 points per $1 spent, uncapped
- 100 Velocity Frequent Flyer Status Credits, when you spend a minimum of $50,000 in the first year
Although there’s not quite as many bonus points up for grabs with this one, there’s a lot to love with the American Express Velocity Platinum card. Not only will you earn 1.5 points per $1 you spend, but you’ll also get a free Virgin Australia return domestic flight each year after your first spend, two annual passes to both the Virgin Australia and American Express airport lounges and if you spend $50,000 in the first year you’ll also score 100 Velocity Frequent Flyer Status Credits.
