What is the interest free period on my Queensland Country Credit Union credit card?

Both credit card options from Queensland Country Credit Union come with 55 interest free days. This means that you’ve got up to 55 days to pay off your credit card balance before being charged interest on it.

What fees might I be charged?

Each card also comes with an annual fee - a quite low one for the classic credit card, while a rewards card will pack a slightly bigger punch. You’ll also be up for cash advance fees if you hit the ATM and foreign exchange fees if you carry your Queensland Country Credit Union card with you on your overseas holidays. External transfers will also attract a fee.

The good news with a credit card from Queensland Country Credit Union, is that the cash advance fee won’t seem like such a big hurdle when you consider that the cash advance rate, which is usually very high, is the same as the low purchase rate for both cards. That’s sure to make a trip to the ATM less of a chore!

What’s the minimum repayment amount I must make?

Each month, your credit card statement will give you the minimum amount you need to pay off. On either Queensland Country Credit Union credit card, it will be the highest of $20 or 3% of your credit card balance. If your balance is less than $20, you’ll have to pay the whole amount.

What rewards options do I have with my Queensland Country Credit Union credit card?

The rewards program from Queensland Country Credit Union offers you really great flexibility with redeeming your points - you can use them to buy pretty much anything. You earn one point for every dollar you spend on your shopping, and then points are converted back into money on your credit card - every 150 points equals $1. You can then use these funds like credit to buy anything you like, from any retailer that accepts EFTPOS.

You can earn 10,000 points a month, and they expire every 2 years, so make sure you use them while you can!

Avoiding credit card fraud

Your Queensland Country Credit Union credit card is protected by VISA’s zero liability policy - which means if someone does use your card to make fraudulent or unauthorised purchases, you won’t wind up having to pay for them.  So you can use your credit card without stressing about credit card fraud.

But there are also a few things you can do to keep your card safe, including:

Choose a difficult PIN number and keep it secret

Only use well maintained ATMs in well lit areas - damaged ATMs can be a sign that scammers are using the machine to collect card details

When shopping online, look for the padlock icon in your browser bar, or for websites using Verified by Visa

Review your statement regularly, so if something unusual does pop up, you can let Queensland Country Credit Union know straight away
