With the backing of AGL, Powerdirect offers both residential and business customers a number of great value electricity deals including renewable energy options.
Powerdirect currently offers electricity plans to households and businesses in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia and the Australian Capital Territory. If you’re looking for electricity plans in any of these states you may be able to apply with Powerdirect.
Powerdirect makes choosing an electricity plan for your home or business straightforward with two different types of plan - a Standard Retail Contract and a Market Contract. A Standard Retail Contract is governed by the energy market regulator in your specific state, which means the rates and terms of your plan are set by the regulator. On the other hand, the rates and terms offered in the Market Contract are set by Powerdirect itself and are likely to differ from a Standard Contract.
When it comes time to pay your electricity bill you’ll have plenty of convenient options. Powerdirect not only allows customers to pay via direct debit and BPAY, you can also pay with your credit card over the phone or with a cheque in the mail.
Consumers looking for a clean energy option for their home or business will be able to choose just how much of their electricity mix is generated from renewables - from as little as 10% renewables all the way up to 100%.
If Powerdirect changes its electricity prices during your contract period you’ll be entitled to end the contract without paying the termination fees that would generally be applicable. You’ll have 20 days to act without penalty.
If you’re a residential customer and are having a tough time financially you may for Powerdirect’s Staying Connected Program.
Moving or switching with Powerdirect is convenient and simple - just give them or call or jump on their website. Just bear in mind that if you’re moving house it may take a few days for your new electricity connection to be set up, while switching could take a couple of months as it’s done at the time of your next scheduled meter read.
The Mozo communicty has rated Powerdirect products and services on different specifications ranging from pricing and bill clarity to customer satisfaction and green energy.
January 8th, 2021. Correspondence saying good news your electricity rate is decreasing, you should see a saving of over $200 for the next 12 month period based on past usage. July 14th, 2021. Correspondence saying your electricity rate is increasing due to energy rate reviews in Victoria, we estimate you'll pay $38 more over the first 12 months after the rate takes effect. So apparently we customers aren't worth fighting for. Of course the public knows what is going on. The massive power failures and prolonged blackouts in the Dandenong region means the suppliers put prices up because they have to pay out GSL penalties and they won't take a hit, they just pass it on to all Victorians as an 'unavoidable price change'. All this on top of a virtue signalling state government who have destroyed base load production to put in inefficient expensive renewables. The energy watch boards are a joke, the energy compare are irrelevant only giving options showing a lower amount by discount, not base rate, so one company is as bad as another as I found with appalling service from Red Energy and Lumo.
