May 2023 Financial Checklist

Mother's Day Breakfast in bed

May is here – which means that winter is near! And Mother’s Day and the new financial year are just around the corner. Here’s your favourite Financial Checklist to help get you through: May 2023 edition.

1. Spoil mum without spoiling your budget

Friendly reminder that Mother’s Day is coming up on Sunday, the 14th of May, 2023. If you're still on the hunt to find the perfect gift for Mum, don’t fret! You don't have to break the bank to show her your love and appreciation.

Check out our 2023 Mother’s Day gift guide for loads of affordable and thoughtful gift ideas and experiences that are sure to make her feel special.

2. Tick off your EOFY to-do list

As the financial year draws to a close, now’s the time to gather your tax receipts and anything else you need to tick off your EOFY to-do list

You can use Mozo’s free income tax calculator to get an estimate of how much tax you’ll pay and any potential refunds you might get based on the Australian Tax Office's personal income tax scales.

Keep in mind that these calculations are only estimates and won’t account for any rebates, loadings, levies, or HECS-HELP payments.

3. Follow your intuition this Taurus season

It’s Taurus’ time to shine! As a Taurus, you value financial security. In 2023, you'll likely continue to prioritise it – but with Saturn hanging in Aquarius early this year, you might also feel called to reassess things. Try to keep an open mind regarding your career and finances this year, Taurus.

As a detail-oriented earth sign, you're urged to let your intuition lead the way this year. That being said, the new moon in October should serve as a reminder to spend less in the busier months that follow. It might also be a good time to stash some cash in a term deposit or high-interest savings account for a rainy day.
