Apia’s highest level of cover, Contents Extra Insurance, will ensure that all of your precious belongings are taken care of in the event of an incident. This policy will give you the flexibility to choose your individual excess and offers you a couple of convenient discounts to make your premium that little bit more affordable. However, you can also opt for Apia's standard contents cover if the higher coverage limits and features don't suit you and your belongings.
With both the standard coverage level and Apia Contents Extra Insurance, your belongings are protected in the event of a number of wide-ranging incidents. For instance, if you’re the victim of a flood, fire, storm, lightning strike, tsunami, burglary or even if you accidentally break some glass - you’re covered.
To that list you can add riots and vandalism or any damage caused by a falling tree or powerline. Just be aware that there are some exclusions relating to storm and power surges so read your PDS carefully. And keep in mind, there are different exclusions between the standard Contents Insurance and Contents Extra Insurance.
The Contents Extra Insurance is Apia's highest level of cover, so they will stump up some serious cash to replace your possessions as new-for-old, including if the items are damaged in an accident you cause, not just via natural events or theft. If your jewellery is stolen, for example, Apia will pay for the costs to replace it up to the value of $2,500 per item (for comparison, it's $2,000 with the standard contents cover). Or if any personal medical equipment is damaged, it will be replaced too, as will computer and home office inventory to set limits for this policy.
Apia will reward tech savvy customers who get a quote online with a 10% discount. Plus, if you have your car or health insurance with Apia, be sure to enquire about the multi policy discounts that are available to customers with more than one insurance policy.
Apia supports those with a little extra life experience, offering cheaper premiums to customers over the age of 50. If you want the flexibility to choose your amount of excess and will stay on top with updating your contents insurance policy as you bring new belongings into your home, this could be the right policy for you.
Without the safety net of underinsurance protection, it will be super important to update Apia if you are to bring new gadgets into your home or splash out on some new jewellery.

We are living in qld since we have move from NSW 2005 we decided have content insurance with Apia we pay nearly 8 years at the and our aircon stop working was in content insurance coverage but this company sad we don’t pay because is unit complex but my aircon was belong to me not connected to other units so I’m very disappointed please beware of this company

I have only been with them for 7months and touch wood haven't had to claim or deal with anyone on the phone, so to give an honest opinion I'd have to make a claim!

APiA takes your premiums for years malicious damage clear deep marks with sharp object in wooden floor caused by tenant and they don't pay up the claim disgraceful behaviour give insurance companies a bad name.
