Apia’s highest level of cover, Contents Extra Insurance, will ensure that all of your precious belongings are taken care of in the event of an incident. This policy will give you the flexibility to choose your individual excess and offers you a couple of convenient discounts to make your premium that little bit more affordable.

At this level of cover, Apia are protecting your belongings in the event of a number of wide-ranging accidents. For instance, if you’re the victim of a flood, fire, storm, lightning strike, tsunami, burglary or even if you accidentally break some glass - you’re covered. To that list you can add riots and vandalism or any damage caused by a falling tree or powerline. Just be aware that there are some exclusions relating to storm and power surges so read your PDS carefully. Keep in mind, there are different exclusions between the standard Contents Insurance and Contents Extra Insurance.

The Contents Extra Insurance is Apia's highest level of cover, so they will stump up some serious cash to replace your possessions as new-for-old. If your jewellery is stolen, for example, Apia will pay for the costs to replace it up to the value of $3,000 per item or if any personal medical equipment is damaged, it will be replaced, too. Computer and home office inventory are covered as standard for this policy.

Apia will reward tech savvy customers who get a quote online with a 15% discount on your Contents Extra premium. If you have your car or health insurance with Apia, be sure to enquire about the multi policy discounts that are available to customers with more than one insurance policy.

Who is it good for

Apia supports those with a little extra life experience, offering cheaper premiums to customers over the age of 50. If you want the flexibility to choose your amount of excess and will stay on top with updating your contents insurance policy as you bring new belongings into your home, this could be the right policy for you.

    Very understanding, even on the phone

    When I made a claim there was no problem what so ever and the staff on the line were very friendly. Until recently they were available 24 hours, but now it's working hours only. I don't mind this. I also have never had any problems when asking them to defer my payments to next week if that happens to be the week I get my pension. Everything is a breeze with them.
