2023 policy change questions viability of policy's
They introduced a new policy for assessing risk in November 2023, this has significantly impacted the cost of all their premiums, the issue is no one can get to the bottom of what has changed and why premiums have doubled or more to the point no one is looking into or providing answers, which has not been my previous experience in past years, this leaves me to believing their is a fundamental change occurring making me doubt they will be forthcoming with any claim I may need to make in the future. They have previously be open and honest about any significant changes in policy along with been really good to deal with any enquiry or claim, the first part of this no long seems to be the case which means the important part may not be the case as well, this is unfortunate as Insurance is about faith in their product and if it's worth the cost of the policy, which after over a decade I'm not sure I have the faith and feel it's time to take a gamble on another provider, which is disappointing.

Not recommended, save yourself

Initially, RACQ accepted it, but then they reversed their decision, rejecting the claim because the couch was "melted, not burnt." This excuse is beyond frustrating. Were we supposed to let it burn down to meet their technicalities? This company clearly lacks compassion and common sense. A genuine accident occurred, resulting in damage to the couch, yet they backtracked and left us with no support. Save yourself the hassle and look elsewhere for home insurance – RACQ does not prioritise its customers or their needs.

Great support during a stressful time
During storms last summer, power surges blew up our fridge. I filled in an online claim and received a phone call 3 days later. My claim was accepted on my replacement cost without any resistance.

RACQ HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
I first joined RACQ 26 years ago for roadside assistance and years later I decided to insure my car and home and contents. By combining all of these into a package I received a discount on the cost of my policies. They also offer a loyalty discount the longer you stay with them. I have only ever made one insurance claim for damage to my house that was done on a very busy day when moving house. While moving out of the house the truck made contact with the house and a repair was needed. The day we were moving house was quite stressful and was made even more stressful by the damage done to the house. Upon ringing the RACQ the customer service was excellent. They reassured me that the damage would be repaired ASAP and the lady on the phone offered some reassuring and kind words that helped to relieve my stress. The RACQ was true to their word and they were In constant contact with me over the next few weeks and made sure the work was completed to a high standard. Because the repair was on the outside of the house I didn't even need to be present while the repair was being done which made it whole process even easier. I would highly recommend the RACQ to others. For years I plodded along with my insurance never making any claims but it's good to know that when it came down to it and the day came that I needed to make an insurance claim it was handled exceptionally well.

When we had hail damage to solar panels, RACQ paid replacement . Any time we have had an accident with a car the repairs had been done promptly and repaired well, no problems at all dealing with staff face to face or online, All staff have been very helpful and courteous, even when booking holidays through them!

RACQ trust worthy insurance
Trusted Qld Company whongive alot back to the community. Easy and transparent to deal with and don't decline claims easily. They also offer discount incentives for members and product bundling.

Excellent - if you can afford them!
Our kitchen had water through it and RACQ was excellent to claim with. They followed up our complaints when the builder didn't provide an adequate assessment. Sadly, they became too expensive to continue staying with. Approximately two thousand dollars more expensive than other insurances!

Racq unethical and don’t pay
I would never recommend this company. I looked at the other reviews and I don’t believe they are kosher. All the people have written them have not had need to claim. Three years on, and Racq has still not settled a claim for my family member who had insurance with this company. When she made the claim, they told her she was not covered. Upon speaking to another insurer, they advised her to go back to Racq because she was covered under the policy. Nearly a year later, and they still have not resolved the IRD. She escalated this to the CEOs office who, promised to settle the claim in early April and still have not. She lost all her belongings and had to go into living into temporary commendation. The huge financial strain has been enormous. To date she has dealt with seven people in Racq all promising to resolve the claim and no one has. She has now received a really offensive email from the in-house solicitor who has made the claim experience extremely difficult and declared to pay out the claim she needs better pictures of all items lost and quibbling about petty amounts of money when she lost everything . He has also demonstrated very unethical behaviour. I certainly would never recommend this company after seeing what they have put my friend through. The culture of it is not to pay at any cost to their customer who pays for the insurance . She is dealing with the ceos office and like any company the culture is set at the top.
