Youi Home and Contents Insurance will provide cover not only for a variety of events like storms, fire and theft but also for a less likely natural disaster such as an earthquake. The policy even includes cover for any loss or damage caused by flooding, just as long as it’s not due to oceanic activity, rising damp or seepage of water from the ground.
What’s included under the building part of your policy:
This policy insures the structure of your home against disaster, but keep in mind, landscaping and building materials kept at your home (for example, all those expensive tiles you bought for a bathroom reno) aren’t covered. If your house is damaged due to one of these events, your policy also includes cover for the cost of emergency repairs and clean up fees (up to 20% of the sum insured).
If you’re unable to live in your house following damage to your home, the policy will also cover the costs for your temporary accommodation for up to 12 months (up to 12% of the sum insured) and up to $2,500 for pet accommodation.
What’s included under the contents part of your policy:
When it comes to everything in your house, Youi Home and Contents Insurance covers things like carpets, antiques and other valuable, cameras and personal medical equipment automatically. You can also opt to include cover for things like jewellery and work tools, thought remember it will bump your premium up.
If you work from home, it's important to note that home office equipment and any stock you’re storing at your home aren’t covered by this policy.
On top of all this, if you feel like there's something you want to protect that's not already included, then Youi allows you to tailor your policy to what you really need, with a range of optional extras including accidental loss and damage, business items and vet costs for the furry residents of the household.
While Youi Home and Contents insurance allows you to choose your excess level to help reduce your premium, keep in mind that if you want to pay your premium in monthly instalments, it will cost you extra. There is also no underinsurance cover with this policy, so make sure you value your home and everything in it correctly, or it’ll be money out of your pocket to cover the rest of the costs.
