Southern Cross Credit Union's (SCCU) term deposit product offers two tiers of competitive locked-in interest rates on balances from $5,000 to $99,999, or balances above $100,000. Currently, customers (of either loan tier) who opt-in for a 9-month term deposit could score a competitive 4.55% p.a. interest rate.
Like other term deposit accounts on the market, SCCU offers a set interest rate for a set period of time. There is a minimum balance of $5,000 required to open a term deposit with SCCU, which isn't the highest requirement on the market, but it may be a hurdle for some. SCCU has two tiers of term deposits, which customers will fit into based on the size of their balance.
Currently the highest interest rate available to customers with balances from $5,000 to $100,000+ is 4.80% p.a. for a 1 year term deposit.
The Southern Cross Credit Union term deposit is good for those with balances of at least $5,000 looking to lock-in one of the higher interest rates on the market at the moment.
If you want to withdraw your term deposit before it matures, then you'll need to provide 31 days notice and pay a $30 administration fee to release your funds.
