Things that go bump in the night might cause a fright, but the scariest spooks of all, like to hide in plain sight.

Bad deals and money mishaps happen in the blink of an eye. But with the right money mindset, you can stop your finances from going awry.

The spooky season is officially here, folks! Your October 2022 Financial Checklist awaits…

1. Detect a devil in disguise

Not all that glitters is gold. If something seems too good to be true, it usually is. So when it comes to money (and life in general), it’s important to stay vigilant so you can detect a dud deal.

Whether you’re taking out a loan or other banking product, shop around and compare your options first to see what’s out there.

And remember, “the big print giveth, the little print taketh away”. Always read the fine print before signing above the dotted line.

2. Conjure up a new money mindset

In the current cost of living crisis, getting a good grip on your finances is more important than ever. In the past, you might’ve managed to get by with a blasé attitude toward money, but in today’s financial climate, that probably won’t cut it.

Take some time to reflect on your current financial situation and goals, and don’t be afraid to readjust your budget and money management practices to mirror this.

3. Banish bad debt

One of the most important steps toward achieving financial freedom is getting rid of unwanted debt. First, determine what debt you currently have (if any). Don’t forget any Buy Now Pay Later payments you might have due.

Then, make a plan to help pay it off. This might involve transferring a set amount of money into a dedicated bank account each month. Or, if you have any lingering credit card debt, you might opt to transfer it over to a balance transfer card and pay it off there instead.

There are lots of different solutions to paying off debt. It’s about finding one that works for you and sticking to it.

4. Focus on the future this Libra season

Happy Birthday, Libra friends! Earlier this year, our Mozo Magic 8-ball predicted that 2022 could be a year of strong financial growth for Librans who keep on top of their finances. This is where a budgeting and savings app could come in handy.

The overarching theme for you this year, Libra, is to keep an eye on the big picture and source out ways to achieve better financial security.

5. Trick or treat yourself to an epic Halloween horror movie marathon

And now for something a little bit lighter. What better way to celebrate Halloween than with a horror movie marathon? And for a killer lineup, look no further than Shudder (A.K.A., the unofficial home of horror!). Here’s what’s new on Shudder this month.

Or, for a more wholesome option, why not check out the long-awaited Hocus Pocus 2 which just dropped on Disney+ ?

As for all other TV and movie reco’s, here’s everything else that’s new on streaming this month:

Well, that’s another monthly checklist done and dusted. We’ll catch you back here next month for your November 2022 Financial Checklist! Until then, go check out our life & money hub!
