As the name suggests, the ME Flexible Home Loan (Fixed, Member Package) is all about flexibility, offering owner occupiers and investors a number of competitive fixed rate options on terms from 1 to 7 years, as well as additional features such as repayment flexibility and extra repayments.
The ME Flexible Home Loan also took home an award in the 2022 Mozo Experts Choice Awards, winning in the Packaged Home Loans category.
ME Bank’s Flexible Home Loan (Fixed, Member Package) has a bunch of borrowing choices for owner occupiers and investors alike, with both principal and interest and interest only repayment options available. For owner occupiers borrowing less than 80% of the property value, fixed rates start at 4.84% p.a. (4.54% p.a. comparison rate*) for one year, while investors can receive rates from 5.09% (5.18% comparison rate*).
ME allows borrowers to make their repayments on a schedule that suits them, with the option to make repayments on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis. Not only that, there are free extra repayments with the ME Flexible Home Loan (Fixed, Member Package), but keep in mind they will be capped at $30,000 during the fixed term period of your loan.
The addition of the Member Package to the ME Flexible Home Loan (Fixed), means you receive a lower fixed and variable rate and won’t pay any application, valuation, settlement or top-up fees. However, when you add the package, while you may be saving on interest and other upfront fees, there is a $395 ongoing annual service fee could really add up over the life of the loan!
Additionally, applications on loan amounts of $250k or more with a maximum LVR of 80% lodged before 31 August 2022 are eligible for ME's $2500 cashback offer.
Also keep in mind that in addition to the ongoing service fee there is a $250 settlement fee at the beginning of the loan and a $350 discharge fee once you’ve paid out your mortgage completely.
ME Bank’s Flexible Home Loan (Fixed, Members Package) could be a good fit for borrowers looking to lock down a solid rate early on in their loan.
As mentioned above, you'll need to weigh up the fixed rates (which are relatively competitive) and the features which come with the loan against the one-off fees and the annual service fee.

I cannot stress to you enough, do not go with this bank. The process was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. To begin, our lender stuffed up basically all of our paperwork after we signed the contract which delayed our settlement. Trying to contact the bank for indiscretions with our payments was a nightmare. We had a fixed rate only to then be told there was a system error and our payments had reverted to variable. This took weeks to rectify and the surplus funds were not credited to our account as they were of the belief the system error was “out of their control”. We had issue after issue and decided to refinance with a better bank with a much better rate. Well, this was absolute chaos. As described in the PDS there were several fees associated with breaking a fixed rate. This was not an issue as we understood our terms and conditions and we set the money aside waiting for settlement. They delayed settlement three times and when settlement was finally due to occur, they attempted to charge us nearly $4000 extra and were charging us three solicitor fees when it took the work of one. When I called to discuss this, the operator was abrupt, rude and condescending. The operator was insisting it was my mistake even though I had the previous break cost paperwork which clearly proved that this was a mistake on their end. After speaking to eight different people (as this is what you have to do to get a correct answer as they all believe they are right and have no idea what is going on), they came to the conclusion that this was another system error and the right fees were adjusted. That is only the half of it. I lodged several complaints and I am yet to receive any form of correspondence from an employee of ME Bank. Unless you want to experience an absolute nightmare, extremely poor attitudes, 50 different stories every time you make contact and be consistently shown that employees are competently incompetent and lack the knowledge, training and skills to be able to provide factual information, DO NOT choose ME Bank.
