Fly for free with Qantas Car Insurance: Earn 20,000 Frequent Flyer points
Owning a car doesn’t come cheap, with thousands of dollars leaving your hip pocket every year to pay for car insurance and maintenance, but Qantas is now rewarding its customers for making those purchases.
The airline has just launched Qantas Car Insurance - and Qantas Frequent Flyers who sign up can earn up to 20,000 Qantas Points and 1 point for every dollar spent on their premium.
Members can also earn up to 6,000 points for taking steps to make their vehicle safer, like performing brake and tyre checks and booking their car in for a service.
“Insurance can be a grudge purchase but in the first year of having Qantas Car Insurance you could earn enough points to fly from Brisbane to Singapore or Sydney to Bali,” Qantas Group CEO Alan Joyce said.
“Qantas has a proud safety reputation, which is why motorists who insure their car with us will be rewarded for maintaining a safe car.”

This new way to earn Qantas Points comes after a survey with 708 Frequent Flyers who often drive, which found that many Australians don’t maintain their vehicle properly: 24% never check the air pressure in their tyres, 27% don’t know how to assess the condition of their brakes, and 14% always put off booking in their car service.
“Road conditions in Australia can vary greatly, so simple things like checking the air pressure in your tyres is a small but critical step that can be done to help keep you safe on the road,” Road Safety Expert Dr Darren Wishart said.
“We all share a responsibility for ensuring safety on our roads, which is achievable not only through safe speeds and safe drivers, but safe vehicles as well.”
