It is a breath of fresh air to find a bank where the customers are treated as though they belong and not just a number to the bottom line and the companies shareholders. I moved my funds to a term deposit with MCU because the bigger banks simply did not care and most of their branches close to me had closed making a face to face enquiry impossible. MCU were offering term deposit rates far above the bigger banks and all I had to do was go into the branch and talk to someone, my account was setup and my funds transferred in an instant.
Like the loyalty reward of no fees & the services offered. Con would be that their system will not recognise our address so we have to pick our mail up from the bank (50km trip) which has resulted in late fees on our credit card when we have missed a pick up. If it weren't for that problem we would be very satisfied.
The Branch is not open of a weekend. Fees are in my view quite high all round. Staff are helpful & courteous as can be expected in a small company. Whilst I could get a better deal elsewhere, I remain with MCU because they have helped me out in some hard situations & because the account structure is convenient for my needs - one member number allows me multiple accounts that I use to budget my spending (basically use the bottle/envelope method but this way allows me to have it happen automatically).
It is a great bank but there are not enough outlets. The ATM charges using other bank outlets is ridiculous.
