I have had an ANZ credit card for over 30 years. Twice I have needed to contact them regarding unauthorised activity and both times it was taken care of swiftly and without question.
ANZ seem to want to assist their customers whenever they can. They do have a problem with waiting on the phone, as a lot of establishments do these days. Once you get on, they are quick to fix the issue.
I have the Frequent Flyer Visa card, which includes travel insurance, but making a claim is long and difficult, so I no longer feel comfortable using this card to book travel.
I've been with ANZ for over 10 years - the app is easy to use and the staff are always friendly. I got my first car loan through them when I was 18 years old and the process was easy and straight forward. I just wish they were more clear on the credit card fees and charges.
The interest rate is reasonably low and ANZ frequently runs good value balance transfer promotions.
I have an ANZ Rewards Black card and it has a very good points redemption and extra features, however the annual fee is very high. It’s difficult to get in touch with ANZ customer service because their chat functionality is so difficult to use and behaves strangely, so I’m hesitant to recommend it. They do have good offers for new customers though, and you can get a large amount of bonus points when signing up.
No annual fee when you sign up but then they give an annual fee the following year - I haven't even used the card once, it's only for emergencies so chose a low rate card.
Sadly they cannot organise anything. Direct debit, extra cards, call backs .. all go ignored. Avoid ANZ, I'm surprised they even offer a help line based on how useless they are.
Our ANZ credit card comes with free travel insurance which is a great feature. When we were in the UK we booked a trip on a discount airline from England to Germany. Knowing we had our flights booked we booked a hotel at a non-refundable rate. Then our airline cancelled our flights and we couldn't get other flights on convenient dates. The hotel refused to refund our payment, but the ANZ Travel Insurance covered most of that cost for us.
Their yearly fees for the credit card is high with no real rewards with points.
