If you're looking for a rewards credit card to help you build up a points stash, then the 2021 Mozo Experts Choice Award winner for best Premium Card Benefits, ANZ Rewards Travel Adventures Card could, be a worthy addition to your wallet. Cardholders can earn ANZ Rewards Points for every dollar spent on eligible purchases. There are also handy travel benefits such as complimentary travel insurance and zero foreign exchange fees.
Let’s start with the fundamentals. Like most rewards credit cards, the Travel Adventures Card has a high purchase rate of 20.24% (and a cash advance rate of 21.24%) but you'll get up to 55 days interest free if you pay your balance off in full each statement period.
There’s also a $6,000 minimum credit limit on the card, the option of being able to have up to nine additional card holders. There is also a $65 annual card fee and a $55 annual reward fee.
Cardholders will be able to earn up to 1.5 ANZ Reward Points per $1 spent on eligible purchases up to $2,000 per statement period. The earn rate then drops to 0.5 points per $1 for eligible purchases above $2,000 per statement period. Reward Points can be redeemed for a range of travel, entertainment and home rewards via the ANZ Rewards program.
New customers can also boost their points balance right off the bat with a one-off offer, as ANZ is offering 40,000 bonus Reward Points when you spend $1,000 on eligible purchases in the first three months from approval.
The 2021 Mozo Experts Choice Award-winning ANZ Rewards Travel Adventures Card also comes with a few useful perks for international travellers. The first major benefit is that unlike most credit cards you won't pay foreign exchange fees on international purchases (both in-person and online), plus the card also comes with complimentary international and domestic travel insurance.
The Rewards Travel Adventures Card from ANZ could be a good fit for cardholders looking to earn points for their everyday spending, or for those who can make use of the additional travel benefits.
Just be sure to automate payments or you could be up for the 20.24% purchase rate or even a $20 late payment fee.

To work out the "Rewards value minus fees" in our Rewards Revealer we:
calculate how many points you'd get each year,
figure out how many flights or gift cards or cashback credits you could get for those points,
work out what that's actually worth to you,
take off the annual fee you'd pay.
More details:
Our calculations are designed to help you compare the value of different rewards schemes. To do this, we've looked at earning a one-way Sydney-Melbourne flight excluding taxes and charges, a return Sydney-London flight excluding taxes and charges, a $100 shopping Gift Card and $100 cashback. Most cards will also offer other rewards, which may be worth more or less than the ones we've shown.
We have made no allowance for bonus points for using your card at specific merchants, introductory offers or special offers. We have not assigned any value to instant discounts, insurances, ticketing and concierge services or other such benefits.
Rewards value calculations do not take credit card interest into account. If you do not pay off your card each month you may be better off looking for a card based on interest rates than on the value of rewards.
In products that have more than one card, a different mix of spend between American Express / Visa / Mastercard will give different results. Mozo's Rewards Revealer lets you choose the mix based on the way you would use such a product, and gives you tailored results.
We assume flights purchased with airline points are 'classic' or 'reward' economy seats with restricted seat availability. 'Any seat' rewards will probably cost more.
To compare the value of flight rewards, we sample online retail flight prices once a quarter based on the average price on a Wednesday 3 months in advance but outside NSW school holidays. For domestic flights we take the lowest available fare from each flight on that day from Qantas Red e-deal, Virgin Australia Saver including baggage and Jetstar Starter including baggage. We calculate the average price excluding taxes and surcharges for each airline, and also the average across all airlines (which we use when rewards are travel agent vouchers). For international flights, we take the lowest available fares on that same Wednesday from each of Qantas, Emirates, Malaysian, Etihad, Singapore, Cathay Pacific and Thai, assuming a return flight 2 weeks later, calculate the average price before taxes and surcharges and use this as our assumed cost of a flight on any airline.
Shopping rewards are based on $100 gift cards from a major national department store.
We make every effort to ensure our calculations are correct and up to date but make no guarantees.

Large fees and I missed the free flights annually.

I saved hundreds of dollars on travel insurance and currency conversion fees on our recent trip to America. I have a credit card with another major bank as part of a home loan package but the inclusions and package that the Rewards Travel Adventure card provide make the additional annual fee more than worth it. Application was fast and easy. The initial documentation package was exceptional and I'm looking forward to using my two Virgin lounge passes and free annual flight.

Great option for a travel perks credit card. Unlike most rewards cards, they offer flights and points with virgin, which is always handy to have a bank off. It's a bit annoying that you need to book the free yearly flight 60 days in advance.

Everything is amazing. I just wish online banking was more convenient and there were more branches.

A wonderful card if you travel overseas regularly because of their 'no FX fee' feature. However, when I was in Italy last year, I couldn't use my AMEX card and the call-centre were no help. This is now moot because the AMEX companion card is no more. The removal of the AMEX card has meant that the value of the card has declined and the 1.5 points offer on Visa is capped to $2k. Not ideal for big spenders. The free flight is also hard to redeem for the dates you want even 6 months in advance.
