Mozo Review   Westpac Low Rate Review

Last updated: 13 June 2018.

What's hot:
  • 0% p.a on balance transfers for 24 months (1% BT fee applies)

  • 13.49% purchase rate

  • No annual fee in the first year ($59 after)

What's not:
  • 19.49% cash advance rate

Mozo snapshot:

Westpac's Low Rate credit card offers customers fantastic low rates, no frills and modern and accessible features. Plus, at the moment you can snag a 0% balance transfer offer of 24 months, one of the longest periods on the market (1% BT fee applies).

Key features:

Westpac's Low Rate credit card is all about value. With a very reasonable annual fee of $59 which is waived in the first year, a low 13.49% ongoing purchase interest rate, and up to 55 interest free days, this piece of plastic is certainly easy on your budget.

If you have credit card debt to blast away, there's a balance transfer period of 0% for 24 months. Just remember that there's a 1% fee applied to this balance, plus, after this period, any leftover debt will start to attract interest at the higher cash advance rate of 19.49%.

You can use the card overseas or shopping online wherever Visa is accepted and it comes with Visa payWave functionality so for purchases under $100 you can tap and go. All foreign transactions will have a 3% foreign exchange margin added to the Australian dollar amount.

Who it's good for:

Westpac's Low Rate credit card is perfect for anyone looking for a no-frills card that is still affordable and good value for money.

Any catches?

Remember that cash advances won't get the low standard interest rate but the much higher 19.49% cash advance rate.

I think Flybuys should be added to this credit card. Also, statements needs to be updated far quicker. In comparison, New Zealand updates their statements almost immediately.
