The ANZ Fixed Rate home loan offers terms ranging from 1 to 10 years, along with a number of handy features such as free extra repayments (up to an annual limit) and the ability to split your loan between a fixed and variable rate. There are no limits to how much you can borrow, and if you’re short the usual 20% deposit, rest assured that you’ll be able to borrow up to 90% of a property’s value.
With the ANZ Fixed Rate home loan, you’ll be able to lock in a rate for as many as 10 years, with interest rates as low as 4.69% p.a. (4.30% p.a. comparison rate*) available on 1-year terms. While lengthier options might seem appealing, the interest rates on terms of 7 years and above are considerably steeper, so ask yourself if you really want to be paying more for much longer.
Repayments can be made weekly, fortnightly or monthly, and you’ll be able to pay down your loan at a quicker pace if you’re able (though annual limits on extra repayments apply). If you’re only locking in your rate for one year, you can also take advantage of an ANZ One offset account, which can help you save on interest if used correctly. Unfortunately, all other fixed rate terms don’t offer this option. This loan also offers a rate lock feature for $750 per $1m lending or part thereof.
The ANZ Fixed Rate home loan could be a good pick for homebuyers looking for certainty when it comes to repayments. The availability of certain features, such as an offset account and free extra repayments - will also be appreciated, however these come with limits.
Be aware that there is a $160 settlement fee. And as with all loans of this kind, at the end of the fixed rate period your interest rate will revert to a (usually higher) variable rate. In this case, the loan switches to the ANZ Standard Variable home loan.

After 5 weeks of stress, hoops, red tape we applied with Commonwealth bank who had everything done in 4 days. ANZ I have never been more sick to the stomach with anything. Buying a second home with a fully paid off house and 3 incomes for a loan of $250k should NEVER have been that hard. I will NOT consider you again.

Pros are, it is a bit bank and been around a long time and can be competitive. Cons are, I believe the big four banks should, because of this, be MORE competitive then any other banks, and they don't pass on their savings enough.
