  • Bank Australia Bank Account

    Online reasonably user friendly

Mostly restricted to phone or internet banking. Call centre usually answers promptly and resolves any issues. Interest rates are competitive but they may have gone a little early in phasing out personal and bank cheques

    Pretty good overall

Although with very few physical branches the banking seems to work well using their app

Good initiaves, not as many ATMS as i want

I'm happy with the banking app, and the fact that none of the money from bank goes into fossil fuels or other harmful endeavours. I do find it frustrating that they done have many ATMS available.

Better than some of the bigger banks

I like this bank because they have good interest rates and good customer service. Their banking app is easy to use and they are secure. However if you are looking to take out a loan, no matter how small, it is not worth applying unless you are a homeowner.

    Invest along clear ethical guidelines

It invests along clear ethical guidelines. I really appreciate that when compared to their competitors. If their interface was terrible, maybe I wouldn't be with them, but I've had no issues. If you want your money to be invested into renewables, conservation etc, Bank Australia are for you.

Bank Australia has fantastic customer service

First and foremost I am very happy with Bank Australia's customer service. I have been in to a branch of theirs a couple of times and on each occasion I was greeted by friendly staff who were able to efficiently answer my questions. Their app is easy to use and does what I need it to. Two of their branches are conveniently located for me should I need face-to-face assistance.

    Bank Australia has creditable policies.

Bank Australia, even though they have only two branches (to my knowledge) solves any problems a customer has quickly and efficiently; their rates are competitive with other similar banks and they have good environmental policies, which they spend time working on.

    Closed all local branches

As they have closed all my local branches, it now feels so impersonal I would have to travel over an hour to physically attend the bank which I prefer. Now no one would know Me. Thinking of changing bank due to this fact

Most ethical bank that doesn’t feel like a bank!

Ethical banking! I never even thought about it until I moved to Bank Australia and I’m so glad I did! They’re a Certified B Corporation which means they’re of the “highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose.” B corporation’s goals include reduced inequality, lower levels of poverty, a healthier environment, stronger communities, and the creation of more high quality jobs with dignity and purpose. I didn’t even know a bank could have this much positive impact… They’re also customer owned so you know they’re out for your best interests unlike many other banks. Their customer service is the best I’ve experienced. You also get to vote in their annual general meetings and everyone gets a say on how the bank is run. It’s the least “bank” feeling bank I know of and I love it.

Stay clear of them - unless you are in Victoria!

I was an InTech Credit Union (IBM's credit union), until it was absorbed by Bank Australia...I stayed with BA mostly due to lazy-ness, and in the 1st instance since they still had a branch 'office' at IBM's (Cumberland Forest) facility. But then, branch was closed up, and then everything became very (phone-wise) virtual, as there were no on-the-ground 'user friendly liveware' to deal with. This was the 1st indication I should move banks. The next indication (and this one tore it), was when I attempted to make an EFT (and even called to do it, as the amount was above my online limit), and then all H**l broke loose(!); my account was 'blocked' (on the idea that the payee was suss, somehow - but I was never given any evidence by 'Financial Intelligence' = a shadowy, slack (due to never actually engaging me) group, which *also* took down my online access (browser and phone app), so then, over the next month, each week I called up the 132888 number, and each time was told an email was being sent to this 'Financial Intelligence' mob, but I never got phone call, or email - or anything, from them. So, after a month of this treatment (keeping in-mind I was a 25 year customer, who did nothing 'wrong', as far as I knew!), I downloaded and submitted an Account Closure form, which took about another 3 weeks to process, and the transfer to the new account was NOT done electronically, a cheque (remember those?) was sent via Priority Mail (and I was not advised that was the processs, either(!)), atnd that was finally deposuted yesterday, with my new bank; hnother way to make me suffer/wait to get *my* money so that I could use it. They make a big deal about being 'ethical' and all the rest of it - and, supposedly, they were 'protecting' me (from whom?), when I think I just really needed 'protection' - from the bank(!). Very poor, and I would *never* recommend BA to anyone who wasn't living within frisbee-throwing distance of a branch (in Victoria). Words fail me as to how really torqued-off I am/was/continue to be, with this bank, considering how long I'd been a faithful customer.

  • Bank Australia Bank Account

    Great community bank

I love that they are a community owned bank and that they take a much more ethical approach to banking than the big 4 banks do. They put money back into the community and are not just trying to make money out of you. The app has a nice design and is easy to navigate. My only note is that they do charge a $5 banking fee (it is waved if you deposit $2000 a month or are student, concession etc. )

    Good bank

Like the different savings account, you can have with Bank Australia. Only one branch in Sydney in the City is not convenient.

  • Bank Australia Bank Account

    Great and ethical service.

I was looking for a more ethical solution than the big four banks, and Bank Australia ticked all of the boxes: no investments in environmentally damaging endeavours. It was super easy to set up an account over the phone (I didn't have to trek down to the branch), and I've never had any trouble with the bank since.
