In 2023, Macquarie was recognised for its excellent banking products in the Mozo Experts Choice Awards. Plus it won a 2023 Mozo People's Choice Awardfor Internet Banking Experience.
Macquarie Bank's service is frustratingly inaccessible. Limited to 9-5, they're unreachable when you need help outside these times. Issues don’t adhere to business hours, and neither should they.
Macquarie offer a good interest rate with no hoops to jump through. However the App is a bit clunky and boring and the font too small.
I planned on opening a Term Deposit Account today. I requested Macquarie collect my deposit amount from my ME Bank Account. I wanted to reduce the risk of fraud for me by Macquarie picking up the money. Macquarie Bank said they no longer do this became of the risk of fraud to them !!!! Isn’t that what Banks do as in Customer Service ? Obviously they are not concerned about the customers risk associated with transferring a large amount of money. They now request you open a transaction savings account and transfer the term deposit amount in there and they will pick it up from there. I did not want another savings account and the risk associated with transferring a large amount of money. Very Disappointed with the Service
You block credit cards to verify ID after having held a Macquarie credit card for two years. But you don't contact said card holder first. The first you know about it, is when your card is declined. When contacting the bank you have to go through menu after menu only to hear on repeat everything you can do through your mobile app - THAT YOU CAN"T ACCESS. Then when you finally get to speak to someone, they won't discuss the issue unless you provide enough detail (through email) that if intercepted is enough to clone your ID. Went into a local branch, to be told they can't help - that isn't their job! Shareholders should know that the Adelaide branch is just for diplaying the wine collection - not for actually helping anyone. Then while Macquarie has gone cashless the customer MUST have a physical drivers licence to verify their ID even though the drivers licence states "Use of this permit/licence for the purposes, other than policing road traffic, is not permitted or authorised and is soley at the risk of the user".
Likes: the online convenience, quick digital startup, cool wallpaper change per season, ATM withdrawal fee refund, use of tags/notes/image attachments for receipts, HIGH INTEREST RATE even on everyday account (much more with the savings account), cool looking Platinum physical card, no issues with tapping, easily integrated on Google wallet Dislikes: the closest physical branch is in the city, which is very hard to access from Northern Beaches (especially during after hours our outside office hours). Macquarie isn't integrated very well with some external apps (e.g. RAIZ).
Friendly bank, never had ay issues with contact or help over the phone. Products are easy to understand and we will definitely be using this bank further in the near future.
