Our verdict

What first caught our attention with the ING Orange One Rewards Platinum card is its low variable interest rate of 16.99% p.a., which is below the average for the rewards credit cards in the Mozo database.

On top of this, ING also offers instalment plans for any large purchase you make at an even lower variable rate of 9.99% p.a. An instalment plan allows you to split the cost of a purchase over several fixed repayments, giving you another option for tackling big ticket items.

You’re able to convert any eligible purchase of $250 or more into an instalment plan, with plan terms ranging from three months up to seven years. We also like that there’s no set-up fees, and no penalty for making extra repayments.

It’s worth noting that ING’s rewards credit card isn’t affiliated with any frequent flyer program, but instead earns you cashback on eligible purchases you make.

You’ll get 1% cashback on your spend, which can earn you up to $30 each month, or $360 cashback over a year. We think that’s a pretty great deal, and it covers the card’s annual fee of $149.

Other benefits of choosing ING’s Rewards Platinum card are the 40 days of complimentary travel insurance when travelling internationally, and the rebates you can receive on fees from ATMs and international transactions – though you must meet certain conditions.
