About BankSA

BankSA is a member of the Westpac Group and one of the most widely used banks in South Australia, offering customers a range of banking, insurance and other financial services. Many of BankSA’s banking products are also award winners, with the bank having taken out recent Mozo Experts Choice Awards for its credit cards and home loans.

What does the BankSA app do?

For customers looking for a way to manage their money and various accounts from the palm of their hand, the BankSA Mobile Banking app will fit the bill. Named an Excellent Banking App winner in the 2022 Mozo Experts Choice Bank Account and Savings Awards, BankSA’s app allows users to do everything from simple tasks like looking up their account balance and making transfers, to splitting expenses and requesting payments from multiple friends - as well as everything in between.

Features we love

So what makes the BankSA Mobile Banking app stand out? Well as you’d expect from an award-winning app, it’s got all the staples you need to easily manage your money, plus a tonne of extra features and tools which go beyond the norm.

The first of these is the level of transaction insights it provides. As apps have become more advanced, banks have gone down the path of providing greater transparency and more details about purchases, with BankSA app users able to zoom in on an individual transaction to see the date it was made on, as well as the address and name of the merchant.

Speaking of purchases, we bet you’ve been out to a dinner with friends which has ended in confusion when it came time to split the bill. It’s a pain, but BankSA’s expense splitter makes it easier. Just create a new expense, then add costs (via transaction history or manually), contacts (from your address book or manually), as well as the account to be paid into and then send out the payment request.

The app also makes life easier for anyone wanting to leave their wallets at home. With the cardless cash feature, cash can be withdrawn from a BankSA, Bank of Melbourne, St.George or Westpac ATM via BankSA Mobile Banking app (up to $500/day and $1,000/week.)

Aside from the features above, the BankSA app also allows users to:

  • Make mobile paymentst via Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay
  • Log in either with a PIN or via biometric payment options like a fingerprint or FaceID
  • Lock their card (for up to 15 days) in the event that it goes missing
  • Set up notifications and alerts for everything from low balances to withdrawals and deposits
  • Let BankSA know if they’re travelling overseas

What we’re not so hot on

While the BankSA Mobile Banking app has a lot going for it, including many of the fundamental app features we expect, it doesn’t have any upcoming bills feature or useful savings tools like a roundup feature.
