HSBC’s Home Value Loan comes with competitive interest rates starting at 5.99% p.a. (5.99% comparison rate*), no up-front or ongoing fees (except for a $300 discharge fee), and the option to make free extra repayments if you’re trying to pay off your mortgage sooner.
The HSBC Home Value Loan is there for owner-occupiers and investors for loan amounts between $50,000 and $15,000,000. Whether you’re buying to live in, or if you’re purchasing property as an investment, there are both principal and interest, and interest-only options on the table.
The home loan interest rates with HSBC’s Home Value Loan do vary depending on your loan-to-value ratio (LVR), but the lowest rates on offer at the moment with this product are:
Owner-occupier with an LVR <60%: 5.99% p.a. (5.99% comparison rate*)
Investor with an LVR <60%: 6.19% p.a. (6.19% p.a. comparison rate*).
Competitive rates aside, the HSBC Home Value Loan also comes with the option of a fee-free redraw facility, flexible repayment frequencies (weekly, fortnightly, and monthly), as well as the option of a split account.
The flexibility (like your choice of repayments frequency) and features (like the split account and free redraw facility) offered with HSBC’s Home Value Loan makes it a great option for borrowers of all stripes. However, those who will really benefit from the competitive and low rates on offer are those that can scrape together enough of a deposit to fall beneath the 60% LVR threshold. That being said, the other home loan rate tiers on offer are still competitive options for many.
Unfortunately, there is no offset account available with the HSBC Home Value Loan. So, if this is a feature that you’re after, it might be worth having a look at the offset home loans available in the Mozo database.
You should also be aware of the $300 discharge fee that applies at the end of your loan. While it is not the largest exit fee on a home loan that we’ve seen, it’s still worth keeping in mind, rather than finding a nasty surprise at the end.

The HSBC home loan is a very good product. My only slight gripe is that it is now a lot harder to redraw money from my home loan account than it used to be. I could walk into a branch, ask to redraw $5000 and it could all be done over the counter. Now I have had to apply for a HSBC card and the money I want to redraw will be put into another account and than have to withdraw from that account. To be blunt, it is a lot more stuffing around than in the past..
