Westpac’s Altitude Rewards gives customers access to special offers and the chance to earn Altitude Points just by making purchases with any eligible Westpac rewards credit card.

With a huge range of different cards up for grabs, including the choice of an American Express card, there are loads of options suited to various budgets and needs.

To start earning rewards points all you need is an eligible Westpac Altitude Rewards credit cards. There are tonnes of different eligible rewards cards, so make sure to check them all out to find one that suits you best.

You’ll also have the choice of a card issued Westpac or on that’s issued by American Express. When you bundle a Westpac Altitude Rewards Card with an American Express Westpac Altitude Card (issued and serviced by American Express) you’ll have access to more points and benefits.

How to earn Westpac Altitude Rewards points

To start earning Westpac Altitude Rewards points all you need to do is make a purchase with any eligible Altitude rewards credit card. The number of points you earn per $1 spent will depend on the card you have. Points are uncapped, and while you have an open Altitude card account, they won’t expire.

When you start spending with your rewards card, you’ll automatically earn Altitude Rewards points, however, you can convert them into Qantas Frequent Flyer points or Velocity Frequent Flyer Points if you are a member of either program.

Earning bonus points

At times you might have the opportunity to earn uncapped bonus points per dollar spent using your Westpac Altitude Rewards card in connection with special promotions.

How can I use my Westpac rewards points?

Once you’ve built up a bunch of Westpac Altitude Rewards Points, all you have to do to redeem them is call up the Altitude Rewards Centre or jump online and head to the Altitude Rewards website. Check out some of the different ways you can use your Westpac Altitude Rewards points:

Cashback: With the Westpac Altitude Rewards program, you’ll have the option to redeem your Altitude Points as cashback on your card. When you choose Cashback, points are instantly deducted from your Altitude Rewards account, but you’ll need to wait up to 10 business days for the money to be credited to your account. Note, the Cashback Redemption offer excludes American Express Westpac Altitude Cards.

Altitude Travel Offers: You can use your Altitude Reward Points to book flights, hotels, activities, hire a car or create your own travel packages via the 24/7 Altitude Travel online booking platform.

Pay with Points: With Westpac’s new Pay with Points, you’ll have the choice to use your points pretty much however you like. Just choose any credit card purchase you’ve made in the last 90 days (except for BPAY) and then exchange your Altitude Points for a statement credit of the same value.

Shop online with Westpac Altitude Points: Via the Altitude Rewards website, you’ll also have access to tonnes of other amazing Rewards offers, including homewares, fashion and beauty, wine and hampers, tickets and experiences, plus, loads and loads more.

Annual fee rebate: You can opt to use your Altitude points for a rebate on your credit card’s annual fee once a year for each account.

Donate your points to charity: You can choose to redeem your Altitude Points as a donation to one of the charities Westpac works with, including the Westpac Rescue Helicopter and Surf Life Saving Australia.

Mortgage fee discount: Another way you can use your Altitude Points is in exchange for a rebate on your Westpac Home Loan fees. All you need to do is call up (this offer is only available over the phone) and you can pay off all or part of your Westpac Home Loan monthly loan maintenance fees or package fees using points.

Gift Cards: You can also redeem your points for gift cards for a range of different stores, including, David Jones, Myer, JB Hi-Fi, Woolworths, or you can put your points towards your weekly grocery bill or car fuel.

Frequently asked questions

Do Westpac rewards points expire?

While you’re still an Altitude cardholder, your Westpac Altitude Rewards points will not expire. So, if you cancel your Rewards credit card, as long as you have another Altitude card account open, you’ll still be able to use your points.

What happens to me points if I cancel my card?

Once you close your Rewards card account you’ll need to use your accumulated points within 90 days after your account is closed. If you have another Altitude card account open, however, Your points will transfer over to that account.

When won't you earn points using a Westpac rewards credit card?

Westpac Altitude Rewards points are not earned on any of the following purchases made on a Westpac Altitude Rewards Credit Card:

  • Government charges (Other than GST on regular purchases)
  • Interest and other bank fees and charges
  • Cash advances
  • BPAY payments
  • ATO payments
