Australian universities have become increasingly popular among Indian youngsters.

Thousands of people leave the Asian country each year in order to enrol on higher education courses overseas.

According to official statistics, the number of student visas being issued to Indian academics who intend to head to Australia doubled between July 2011 and March 2012 when compared with the corresponding period the previous year, DNA India reports.

Melbourne appears to be the destination of choice among Indian scholars, with half of all applicants choosing to attend institutions in Victoria.

It is absolutely crucial that foreigners assess which student bank accounts offer them the best value when they first head down under.

Having a decent account will help you to manage the cost of being a full-time student far more easily.

A lot of companies offer no-fee services to students and having a low-interest overdraft can often be a lifesaver – particularly when times are starting to get tight as you wait for the next instalment of your loan.
