Domain Insure comes from the minds behind popular property listings website, Domain.com.au. This new insurance offering comprehensively covers buildings on your property and the contents within your home. The policy comes with a thorough 24/7 claims service, as well as generous extras like the rebuild cost safety net and other discounts.
Domain Insure Home & Contents Insurance covers a huge range of insured events which may impact your home, as well as specified cover for items within your four walls.
You can rely on your policy in the case of fire, floods, explosions, burst pipes and other leakages, glass breakages, storms and even earthquakes and tsunamis. Any damages or loss caused by an attempted or successful theft or burglary will also be covered, as will the result of vandalism. Be sure to note some specific circumstances in your PDS where these events won’t be considered insurable, like storm surges caused by anything besides a storm.
On the building front, coverage extends beyond your residence and things like flooring, wardrobes and cupboards, out to garages and any permanent pools, spas and decks. While landscaping is included, trees and shrubs aren’t, and neither are building materials or mobile structures like a caravan. Also remember your building cover will be void if your residence is unoccupied for more than 100 days.
The list of contents inclusions is vast, covering everything from jewellery to work equipment, sports items and cash. Check the limits on the standard cover for these, and consider opting to increase it if your items are more valuable and require additional security.
Domain Insure currently offers 12% off your first year’s premium if you buy your policy online. And as an added layer of security, you’ll get up to a 10% rebuild cost safety net. This means if the cost of repairing or replacing your buildings is more than the amount you chose to insure them for, Domain Insure will pay up to 10% extra to help cover it.
Homeowners who want to protect all of their belongings as well as the structure and additional elements of their home.
Like all insurance policies, not every single item is included. Keep in mind in-ground plants, trees, soil and any building materials or partially built structures aren’t covered under this policy.
