James Martin has over eight years of experience writing about
personal finance topics including superannuation, insurance and credit cards. He holds a
Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of Westminster. His tertiary
study helped develop his excellent research and writing skills. James is driven to help people
break down confusing financial topics and take control of their money through better
decisions.
James has pored over hundreds of Product Disclosure Statements and is particularly skilled
at helping people navigate the complexities of insurance products. Aside from insurance,
James’ interest in personal finance spans topics such as investing, side hustles and the
Financial Independence, Retire Early (FIRE) movement. He regularly interviews experts
such as brokers and financial planners, helping him to better understand the challenges
faced by consumers. James’ expertise in financial services is supported through
qualifications including a Tier 1 General Insurance (General Advice) certification (RG146).
As an NCTJ qualified journalist, James has a strong understanding of the media industry. He
draws on four years of experience working as a journalist for news organisations in London
including The Irish Post. James regularly liaises with the Australian media as a company
spokesperson and has shared his expertise with outlets including Sydney Morning Herald, 7
NEWS, Triple J and WIN News.
