Aurora Energy is a government-owned electricity retailer in Tasmania, who is all for community and sustainability.
Aurora Energy is only available to households and businesses in Tasmania.
Customers are able to choose between different electricity packages offered by Aurora Energy. These packs have been designed to suit the varying needs between customers and services they require.
For example, with the Aurora+ package, customers have a choice between receiving a flat rate or peak and off-peak rates. With this package, customers will also be able to keep an eye on their electricity usage throughout the day, thanks to the Aurora+ app. A Residential Flat Rate package is also available for households who prefer to not be actively involved with their electricity usage.
Similar to the Aurora+ package, the Residential Peak and Off-Peak product delivers pricing depending on the electricity demand. Prices are slightly higher and lower in off-peak periods. According to the retailer, this product is best suited to households with solar panels and battery storage, as they are able to store any excess solar electricity to be used during peak hours.
Finally, the Aurora Green package allows households to contribute toward supporting a sustainable future by having their electricity supplied by a renewable source. Customers have great flexibility when deciding on the percentage of green power supplied, ranging from 10% to 100%.
From community grants to collaborating with non-profit organisations, Aurora Energy are big fans of community and helping those in need.
Go green with your electricity usage by having your home supplied with wind energy via the AuroraGreen electricity package.
If you’d like a more innovative way to stay on top of your electricity usage, the Aurora+ app allows you to tap into and view your usage on a weekly or even hourly basis! Just keep in mind that using the app will incur a minor 11 cents per day fee.

Wish we had competition via an alternative energy provider here. The consistent increases in power costs are crippling.
Aurora energy is so great, they have allowed me to pay my bill in fortnight sums averaged out to a certain amount of money automatically comes out of my bank account.
for a long time Tasmanians have only been able to access aurora energy so its kinda defacto here. energy prices are outrageous country wide. they are ok but what do they have to really do but keep the lights on?
Aurora has been the leading electricity provider in Tasmania for a long time. Possibly the only one available for as long as I have dealt with power bills. If we had more options I believe prices may be more competitive and affordable for the average household. Customer service is overall good, as is power outage updates on the internet.
We don't have a lot of choice of energy providers in Tasmania. I think electricity charges are too high especially considering that Tasmania makes a lot of its own energy and exports it elsewhere. Aurora is an OK electricity provider and I haven't experienced any problems with the company to complain of.
