Payment options

You can pick from a number of payment options for your gas bill with EnergyAustralia. Pay up online using your credit card, BPAY, direct debit or Centrepay. If you want to mail a cheque or money order, you can post it to the address on your bill. You also have the option to make the payment in person at any of the Australia Post outlets.

Personalised instalment plan

If you are looking for an option where you can spread out your gas bills over regular instalments instead of having the costs pile up over weeks, you can look at EnergyAustralia’s personalised instalment plan. Call an energy consultant at Energy Australia and ask them to explain the details and activate the option for you.

Digital solutions

Your account information is just a click away with EnergyAustralia’s My Account. This feature lets you monitor your consumption as well as pay your gas bills online.

Hardship program

If a customer is having trouble paying their gas bill due to a difficult financial situation, for example, loss of employment or some unexpected expenses relating to their home or car, they can seek support with Energy Australia’s hardship policy.

Switching and moving your gas plan with EnergyAustralia

Switching

You can switch to Energy Australia online or over the phone. You’ll need to provide some information such as your address, contact details and you will also have to submit an identification document such as a copy of your passport, driver’s licence or Medicare number. The switch to EnergyAustralia will take place on your next gas meter reading after sign up. It will not start from the date you call to make the switch.

Moving

If you’re an existing customer with Energy Australia and are moving home, you can get your energy plan to be transferred easily as long as they provide gas in that area. You can book your move online or call EnergyAustralia’s customer care team and let them know when and where you are planning to move. Do remember that generally energy Australia will require three business days to arrange the transfer. In case you need a connection more urgently, you can request the customer service consultant to help you make the move sooner.

    Leaves much to be desired

    I had major issues with my gas metre reading. When I raised these issues, it took many hours and emails to resolve. Customer service was sub par, many instances of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing, and I regularly had to chase them for a response. Fine when things are working, a nightmare when they’re not.

    This company is alright

    They are alright but I haven't been using much of my gas since I have my outside kitchen and I use bottle gas still my bill comes higher than I expected. I have called and checked few times they say everything is alright from their end. They also give discounts plan which helps a little.

    Overall OK but needs some improvement.

    Getting the meter read (under kitchen sink) is a right bother - the meter readers are lazy and prefer to leave a card in your letterbox when you are home! Not good enough! Often when you submit it online, the reading doesn't get updated for your next bill. Compared to electricity side of Energy Australia they need to up their service. Rates are still very economical so that is good as well as rebates for pensioners and paying before due time. Their side of website often needs adjusting. Don't know why electricity and gas accounts cannot be read and issued at the same time for the same period for the same property. Very weird.
