Having started out its operations in February 2004 under the name Victoria Electricity, Lumo Energy has grown into an energy retailer that now provides electricity, gas and renewable energy solutions to about 500,000 customers in Australia.
Lumo Energy sells electricity in Victoria, South Australia and Queensland. If you’re looking for electricity plans in one of these states, you may be eligible to apply to Lumo Energy.
Lumo Energy provides a number of electricity plans to choose from. The different deal options will depend on:
For all those consumers who want to support and encourage the use of renewable electricity in Australia, Lumo Energy has an electricity plan that’ll help you make an environment-friendly choice. If you decide to go with this plan, an equivalent of 10% of your electricity consumption will be derived from government accredited renewable energy and fed back into the grid.
What if your electricity bill could bring you closer to your next holiday? Well, it’s actually possible if you sign up for an electricity plan with Lumo Energy. They’ve partnered with Virgin Australia's Velocity Frequent Flyer program to offer a package which not only gets you 10,000 Velocity Points when you sign up, it also gives you 6 points for every dollar that you spend with Lumo. The terms are subject to change so don’t forget to check on the specifications when you decide to sign up.
Lumo recognises that customers facing a financially difficult situation could find it challenging to pay their electricity bill. To help such customers, Lumo has an Energy Account Support and Enquiries (EASE) team, which provides access to financial services and support options for your account. If you feel you need help to your energy bills, you can call the EASE team to understand the eligibility criteria and application procedure.
If you sign up to some specific plans like Lumo Advantage, Lumo Velocity or Lumo Life package, you also automatically get signed up to Lumo’s exclusive shopping program called Advantage Online. This facility gives you access to multiple discounts on gift cards, movie tickets and even holiday packages.
You won’t have to worry about how to pay your electricity bill with Lumo Energy. You can choose from many options such as direct debit, BPAY, Credit Card and Centrepay. If you don’t want to deal with online or phone banking then you can also mail your cheque or go over to any Australia Post outlet to pay up in person.
Switching
If you’re a new customer who is looking to switch their household’s electricity plan to Lumo Energy, you can easily arrange for the transfer. All you need to do is fill out a form online and someone from Lumo will get back to you within one business day. You also have the option of calling them directly to understand the different plans and then ask for the switch.
Moving
Existing customers can easily move their electricity plan with Lumo Energy when they are changing addresses as long as Lumo provides electricity in that area. If you are moving in five or more business days’ time you can request for a transfer online or over the phone. But if you can’t wait for five days and need the move to take place more urgently, you’ll need to call to make sure your connection has been sorted before you move into your new home. Have been with Lumo for a short while, swapped to them as they were local, but thinking of moving as since being with them it is like I have no panels on my roof as bills just keep going up.
Great competitive prices and we can contact them quite easily. Only problem is that the bill takes too long to get to us so when you get the early bird discount you only have a few days to pay.
I like this provider because it's mine feel a bit expensive at times and cannot avoid not to pay it payment plans are good I stick to them
The bills are easy to read. Cleary showing how our household usage compares to the last bill. The prices are better than my previous supplier.
For electricity LUMO does consistently offer better prices for the area i am in. So far the service has always been great and never had any disconnections. Their online account management is OK and does allow for easy payment and communication via email. I am not sure about their Solar rebates as i have never used it.
If you’ve never switched your electricity provider, chances are, you might just find a way cheaper plan out there than the one you picked a long time ago. To find out if you can save on your electricity plan, head on over to Mozo's energy comparison tool.
