Powershop is a 100% online energy company owned by Meridian Energy - the largest renewable generator with wind farms and hydro assets across Australia. They’re Australia’s only energy retailer to be certified 100% carbon neutral, and they offset all of the emissions associated with their operations and customer energy usage. Unique to other providers, Powershop lets their customers prepay for their electricity using online tools and apps. This also allows consumers to pay for their electricity consumption when it suits them.
Powershop electricity is currently available to customers in New South Wales, Victoria and south-east Queensland.
Powershop provide a different way of paying for your electricity. They offer specialised ‘Powerpacks’, which let their customers take control of their electricity bills by showing them how much energy they are using and how much it is costing them. Powerpacks can be purchased online or through the Powershop mobile app to pay for previous, current or future electricity services. Powerpacks often carry discounts and special prices, which encourage users to save on their daily usage.
Or if you’re after a less hands on approach, there is always the option to set up a credit card or direct debit payment that will be billed monthly.
Keep tags on your energy usage with Powershops online tools and app to track your electricity use, purchase Powerpacks and to manage your account.
Your Powershop electricity bill can be paid using a credit card, direct debit account or via internet banking.
Powershop claimed their title as Australia’s Greenest Power Company in the Greenpeace Energy Green Electricity Guide in 2018 for a third year running for supporting 100% renewable generation and offsetting all carbon emissions at no cost to their customers.
Powershop doesn’t charge any withdrawal fees and consumers are able to switch to another plan at any time. There are also no fees on credit card transactions.
Powershop offer concession prices for customers with a Commonwealth Health Care Card, Pensioner Concession Card, Veteran Affairs Concession Card or a Low Income Health Care Card. And for every friend you recommend to Powershop (once they switch), you’ll both be awarded a $75 power credit in your account.
Organising power connections when you are switching or moving home is a simple process with Powershop’s online platform - all they need are a few simple details.
If you’re switching providers, Powershop will contact your old supplier for you to arrange the switch, and if your current provider charges a termination fee, Powershop will also cover you with for up to $75. This process will take around 3-4 weeks, and after sign up there is a 60 day change of mind guarantee. If Powershop is not for you, you are free to switch providers and any prepaid unused electricity will be refunded back to you.
If you’re moving homes you will need to contact Powershop 3-4 days before you relocate in order to organise your new electricity connection. They have a next business day connection for most areas and don’t charge any set up fees so you can move stress-free.

Great company to deal with. Rates are competitive though we'd love a better deal on our buy back.
I've been a client of Powershop for nigh on 7 yrs now. After an atrocious experience with my previous provider who for two, quarterly billing cycles, did not apply Solar FIT credits to invoices, from my " then " newly installed & accredited 5 KWh solar system. ( over the whole Summer & Autumn seasons ). I was forced to engage the services of the " Victorian Energy Ombudsman Office " to ( fortunately ) receive a reduced/revised invoice & a significant re-imbursement of hard-earned that had already been paid to said provider. Indeed Powershop don't offer " honeymoon deals " per se, just to reel you in then surreptitiously jack up the price when it ends. Yes; it costs a little more per KWh but it's worth it, when Powershop email you a postie every 10 days advising you of your Solar FIT & subsequent power consumption pattern. Powershop also offers pre-purchase power packs that are really " worth their salt "! I much appreciate their emailed monthly invoice service, a first for me at the time & the clincher that convinced me they're worth switching too. It enables more effective household budgeting, & completely eliminates dreaded" Bill Shock ". Their service provision has been exemplary. That's why I've stayed with them this long & won't be shopping around any time soon.
I love that it is all controlled through an app and I am in control of it all. I like checking out when I am using the most electricity.
The app is great. It's fantastic being in control of my bills and being able to see exactly where my usage is going.
I canned to Powershop because of it's green credentials and I have been very satisfied with them in regards.
