Red Energy sells electricity and other energy related services to residential, business and commercial customers in Australia. As a part of Snowy Hydro, Red Energy is committed to renewable energy with a promise that every unit of its electricity purchased on select plans will be matched with one unit of electricity generated from a renewable source.
Red Energy markets electricity plans to residential, business and commercial customers across Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales. If you are a resident in one of these states and are looking for an electricity plan, you may be eligible to sign up for a Red Energy account.
You can choose from a range of Red Energy electricity plans with plenty of money saving options such as discounts off your entire electricity bill when you pay on time. The tariffs you receive will be determined by the distributor in your state but with Red Energy you can safeguard yourself against rising electricity rates by electing an energy plan with a Fixed Benefit Period for up to two years. Do remember that you will be charged an early termination fee if you leave your contract before the fixed term expires, so be sure to consider if an electricity plan with a fixed term is right for your household.
If you live in Victoria and have a smart meter, you can receive additional savings on your electricity bill with Red Energy’s flexible pricing scheme, which charges you different electricity rates at different times of the day.
If you are an existing Red Energy customer in New South Wales, you can support renewable energy generation in Australia by adding Red Energy’s 100% GreenPower option to your electricity plan at any time. Choosing this option means that Red Energy will purchase an amount equivalent to 100% of your electricity usage from accredited renewable energy sources and add it to the national electricity grid on your behalf. When you go for this option, you may need to change your agreement with Red Energy.
If you live in Victoria or New South Wales, you have further incentive to switch to Red Energy as your gas provider because when you choose a plan with a Fixed Benefit Period, you’ll receive membership to Red Energy’s rewards program. As a member of the program, you’ll have access to hundreds of discounts on your everyday spending from dining out and petrol to movie tickets and shopping.
Whether you prefer to pay your electricity bill online, over the phone or in person, Red Energy has you covered. You can choose from an extensive range of payment options including direct debit, credit card, BPAY and Centrepay (if you receive Centrelink support payments). Alternatively, you can mail a cheque to Red Energy or pay in person at your local post office.
It’s easier to stick to budget when you have Red Energy’s Even Pay which can be conveniently set up over the phone. Red Energy will average out your electricity bill payments so you’ll always pay the same amount on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis and you’ll even have the flexibility to choose a payment date that matches your own pay or salary cycle.
If you hold a valid concession card such as a Pensioner card, you may be eligible for a number of state based concessions and rebates off your Red Energy electricity bill. You will need to be diligent in finding out what concessions are available in your state as well as what eligibility requirements you must satisfy. You can start your search here .
If you think a Red Energy electricity plan could be a good choice for your household, you can make the switch by completing a quick online form. You will need to provide your personal details, address and proof of identification such as a driver’s license number or passport. In case you’re not comfortable with filling in your details online, you can also switch your electricity services over the phone when you request a call back from a Red Energy agent.

Our energy provider has always been very helpful when I have had to contact them for something, I always rave about their customer service and limited wait times. Even when I had a problem that was completely my fault when we moved last year, they were so lovely and so fast to rectify it! Very very happy with Red Energy.
