Westpac and Uber team up to offer customers free rides

Uber-loving banking customers across Australia are in for a pleasant surprise, with the ride-sharing giant teaming up with Westpac in an exclusive deal which will give select customers every 4th ride they take with Uber free (well free-ish).

Currently the deal is an "invite-only" offer for Uber customers who sign up for a new Westpac Choice account and register their linked Debit MasterCard to their Uber account.

Subscribers will then receive a free trip (up to $20) with every 4th ride they take with Uber, to a limit of $300 worth of rides over the offer period.

The dates you should know
  • 31 March 2017 - To take advantage of the deal customers will need to sign up online or on their mobile by the end of March. Customers must apply through the promotional landing page in order to receive the offer.
  • 30 September 2017 - The promotional period ends at the end of September, so if you do apply for the offer make sure you make the most of the $300 cap before then.

This is the second time Westpac and Uber have worked together, with the two companies having forged a deal last July which gave around 100,000 Westpac customers the chance to save $25 off their first Uber ride.

Uber has been legalised throughout Australia, excluding the Northern Territory, with an estimated 20,000 active drivers on the road as of April 2016.
