Got a Tesla and need insurance? KOBA’s soon-to-launch Comprehensive EV Insurance could be worth a look. By connecting to the car's onboard computer, the app brings in connected services, driving stats, trip tracking, and car care monitoring. Just keep in mind that, initially, this insurance will only be for Tesla.
KOBA’s Comprehensive EV Insurance utilises smart digital features so that you can see vehicle-specific EV insights through their smart app, including estimated battery range, trip-tracking and tyre pressure monitoring. Monthly EV usage reports and enhanced battery monitoring available soon as standard.
KOBA’s connected insurance model also means they can see how much you’re actually using your car. This is important as KOBA operates under a pay-per-kilometre model, so the company can get an idea of how much you realistically should be charged for driving your EV.
This insurance also comes with a “capped price” promise, which means if you drive over 400 KM/day or 3,000KM/month every once and a while, the rest of the KM that day or billing for that month is on KOBA. However, keep in mind that if you regularly go over this, the insurer may choose not to renew your policy.
KOBA has also talked with the EV community to get a good idea of handy EV-centric features to use. These include EV-certified repairers in their network, charging equipment cover, lifetime repair guarantee, stolen car locator, discounts for lower KM and new car replacement in the first 24 months or registration, an EV Car hire option, charging equipment cover, new car replacement and a choice of repairer option (T&Cs apply).
Tesla drivers looking for EV-only insurance.
Currently only for Tesla users but KOBA claim they will be also rolling out to new EV brands soon.
