Ozicare Home and Contents Insurance provides extensive cover against fire, storms, theft and more. If you buy online, you’ll be treated to a 30% discount, and if you change your mind within 21 days of purchasing the policy, you can cancel at no charge, so long as you haven’t made a claim in that time.
The list of events Ozicare Home and Contents Insurance covers runs quite long, and includes fire, lightning, storm, earthquake, theft, vandalism and more. While there is limited cover for accidental damage to glass, ceramics or sanitary fixtures as part of the base policy, additional cover can be purchased for other home items.
If you live in a flood-prone area, you’ll be glad to know that flood cover is available as an optional extra. Unfortunately, this won’t cover damage caused to garden retaining walls, garden borders, driveways, paths, pavers or gardens.
Cash, cheques, gift cards are insured for up to $800. As for your various valuables, handwoven carpets are insured for up to $2,000 per item, artworks are insured for up to $5,000 per item, and jewellery is insured for up to $1,000 per item, or $5,000 in total.
One major plus is the new for old replacement of lost or damaged belongings, meaning that even if a particular item was on its last legs, Ozicare will get you a brand new one.
And if death, injury, or damage to another person’s belongings occurs on your premises, Ozicare will cover your legal liability up to $20 million. If an insured event results in your own death, Ozicare will contribute up to $7,000 to the cost of the funeral, so long as a claim has been made for loss or damage to your home or contents by the same event.
Ozicare Home and Contents is good for homeowners who need cover for both building and contents, as they'll be able to take advantage of the 30% discount.
If you’re considering signing up for Ozicare Home and Contents Insurance, you should read over the PDS carefully for an idea of the policy’s limits. For example, if your claim has to do with damage caused by storms, you should be aware that you won’t be covered if it turns out a design fault, structural defect or faulty workmanship was to blame.
