I had an investment loan, after 5 years they added the principal without telling me. The fees are way too high, and for everything I was told they were a subsidiary of Westpac, not true they are brokers. The deferred establishment fee was locked for 5 years and the fee was 6 time that of an ordinary bank. The discharge fee was ok, but you have to pay their solicitors fee, (very expensive. To talk to any body you get a call centre in the Philippines. I was told the bank was in Adalaide.

Reply from Mortgage Ezy

Thank you for your feedback John,

While some our customer support is provided from our call centre you can talk to us any time in our Australian offices simply by request. We also list our mobile numbers and are happy to provide management contacts if you encounter any further problems going forward. Please note any deferred Establishment fees were levied by funders and these all ceased nearly 5 years ago so please discuss how we might be able to assist with these on your behalf. Statements are free and the only charge is for them to be re issued so feel free to give us details of this and we will gladly refund any charge if incorrectly levied. We thank you for sharing this information with us and we will work to improve our processes for you going forward.

I don't hesitate to recommend Mortgage Ezy as they sorted a home loan solution based upon my needs. Whenever I've had to contact them my questions are always answered promptly. Personally, I would much rather receive a lower interest rate than pay overhead for "big-bank" branches. No branch, no worries as they are always just a phone call away.

A rate under the Basic Loan I was going to try with all the bells and whistles I was hoping for. I like the No Interest Visa for cash as I get no charges of interest or fees which is pretty awesome but it's more like a debit card than a credit card. If your purchase is more than 1000 dollars you need credit in the loan.

I have an investment loan on which the repayments were for interest only. At the expiration of the interest only payments period Mortgage Ezy offered to extend the arrangement. I notified them that I would accept their offer. They sent me the paper work which I signed and returned. After I made the 1st payment under the new agreement I was shocked to be told that I was in arrears. I questioned them and was told that my request to continue the interest only arrangement had been rejected and the repayments where now some $600 per month higher and as I was in arrears I had been charged a fee of $150, which was the standard fee for loans in arrears. How is it possible to be declined for accepting an offer made by them?? I have made enquiries and complained a number of occasions and the only response I get is silence, once or twice people have said they would get back to me but no one ever does.

Do not go near this company! I had actually filled in forms for a loan to Adelaide bank and had no idea who this company was when I got my first bank statement, I had asked numerous times for a copy of my agreement with them and finally two years afterwards they faxed 9 pages of 11 which were filled in and signed by a third party alleging they were us, I brought this to the attention to the manager via a fax message and the only reply I received was a reduction in my overpriced interest rate and a Coconut as a peace offering (Yes!it was a real coconut), I am still stuck with this company 10 years later.

I have an investment propert loan through Mortgage Ezy. I requested a Tax invoice for the management fees charged to my mortgage and was advised that their system did not allow for the production of tax invoices. Finding it somewhat surprising that an ABN holder did not have the facilities to produce the core transactional document for Australian business, I requested to speak to a supervisor. This supervisor advised that Mortgage Ezy could indeed produce tax invoices, but it was not their policy to do so. Whilst this is a relatively minor inconvenience for me, it is very concerning that an organisation purporting to be a fisrt class lender has a publically stated policy of refusing to issue a document that is: 1) An integral part of business in Austtlia 2) Provides visibility of transactions, and: 3) Is used to calculate taxation obligations. It makes me wonder what these people are trying to hide...

Everytime interest rates move they move worse than the big banks. Offical cash rate is down 100 basis points since the commencement of my mortgage and Mortgage Ezy have only dropped my mortgage 35 basis points. Less than half!!! They presented themselves as a low rate mortgage provider but act more in a predatory fashion, rather sleazy, I think Mortgage SLEAZY is a more appropriate name for them. They have claimed ING sets the rates but this was a lie. If you request a rate review by phone its ignored, email them and they reject it without even the opportunity to present a case. Avoid them.

This bank sucks big time. I contacted the bank Sept 2011 and asked if they could reduce my interest rate. I did this with my other bank and they dropped the rate right there on the phone to remain competitive. Now I am paying .065% more with Mortgage Ezy. They would not budge on the rate. They said they would have to contact my broker, however they could not contact him as he was on holidays. They said they would call me back a week later but never did. To switch to another bank is costly as Mortgage Ezy want to charge me almost $5000 to leave them in the first 5 years. So I have another 3.5yrs to go before my time with them is served and believe me I will be leaving them as fast as I can. No compromise, poor service. As for the last .05% interest rate cut, they only passed on .025%...not good. Beware stay away and don't be conned by a broker.

Since Mortgage Ezy bought out Great Pacific, we have had nothing but headaches. Had to call 3 times to speak to an operator in Manila, to just update my address and that STILL has not been done properly! Again had to call 3 times to change our direct debit date as interest was being deducted FIRST before our funds were in the account, the operator DID NOT KNOW what I was talking about and pretended to fix the problem, and I had to call another 2 times and they CANT EVEN SEE my account online as they DO NOT HAVE ACCESS? Therefore they had NO IDEA WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT??!!! How can this business or service STILL BE RUNNING???? It was the most frustrating situation, trying to change address and change the direct debit date, 2 simple requests and it was THAT hard for them. And now the kicker, trying to apply for an increase since October, and its been going on til now. First it takes them 3 weeks to come back with an answer - wayyyy too long - it was declined and then when we submit the docs for a review with more info, took them another 2 weeks and it was declined again - and they DIDNT READ THE EXTRAS PROPERLY - and ANOTHER WEEK went by for another review on the SAME ISSUE which wouldnt have happened if someone did their job, and NOW its going somewhere subject to valuation... OMG - a simple increase and its just SOOO HARD!!! We will be taking our business elsewhere. OH - and NOT even an apology to calm the customer down!!! So whoever's reading this, if u want a good customer experience, DO NOT BANK WITH THESE GUYS!!!!

Full review

Mortgage Ezy will suck you in with a low interest rate and then put the interest rate up higher than the actual lender charges. In our case, our interest rate is 1.1% higher than the rate advertised by the actual lender on their website, and 1.19% higher than other wholesale mortgage managers are advertising for the same product. When a rate reduction was requested to bring our mortgage in line to match the lenders, they offered a measly 0.1% (a reduction 8.09% when everyone else is paying 7.19%). Their other offer was to re-mortgage us for a lower interest rate as long as we pay full fees and discharges on the mortgage (over $6K) despite the fact we've already paid for a partial discharge. In an ironic twist, Mortgage Ezy have just won an award for best mortgage manager for 30+ employees, which simply tells me they do not do any customer satisfaction surveys when they give out these 'awards'. Let's not mention the fact the call centre has been outsourced to the Phillipines, and you're either hung up on by their phone system, sent to a voicemail or you wait up to 15 minutes to get a 'customer service representative' who can't do much other than route you through to the wrong person in Australia. SHAME ON YOU Mortgage Ezy for your rip-off interest rates, your poor customer service and your terrible attitude.
