Mozo Review bcu Classic Credit Card Review
Last updated: 24 August 2018.
If you’re after a credit card which has the basics and nothing more, the bcu Classic could fit the bill. It has a low 11.80% interest rate for purchases and 14.80% for cash advances, an annual fee of just $45 and worldwide access via the Visa network.
As the name suggests, the bcu is a classic no frills credit card. The low 11.80% interest rate means you won’t have to pay through the nose in interest if you do occasionally carry a balance on your card.
The card has a standard 55 days interest free, which is good news, but in order to get this, you’ll need to pay your balance off in full each month.
You can make purchases in Australia and around the world and the card is chip enabled which means that you can just ‘tap and go’ for purchases under $100. You’ll need to use your pin for any purchases over this amount. Any international purchases will have a 3.65% foreign exchange margin added to the Australian dollar amount. This includes online purchases from international stores.
There isn’t a rewards program with the Classic card so if you’re looking to earn rewards head to the Mozo rewards cards section to compare all rewards cards
While we always recommend that you set up automatic payments so that you never miss a credit card repayment, the good news is that the Classic card doesn’t charge a late fee if you forget to pay your bill on time.
Who it's good for:
The Classic credit card is a suitable credit card for anyone wanting a low cost credit card for everyday purchases. You’ll need to be 18 years of age, a permanent Australian resident or citizen and not have any outstanding defaults, judgements or be an undischarged bankrupt.
While there isn’t a late payment fee charged on the Classic card by bcu, be aware that any late payments will be noted on your credit history so it is best to always ensure you make the minimum repayment by the due date. The minimum repayment percent is 3% of the balance.
