With Momentum Energy, you can opt for the SmilePower plan where Momentum will ensure that an equivalent amount of renewable energy as you’ve used at your home, is fed directly into the National Electricity Market by its parent company, Hydro Tasmania. The other benefit with one of Momentum’s plans is also that you could get a discount for paying on time if you go with e-billing.
Momentum Energy’s SmilePower plan ensures that an equivalent amount of renewable energy matching the energy that you use at your home will be fed into the National Electricity Market by Hydro Tasmania, or another electricity generator, within the same calendar year that you are billed for your purchase of SmilePower.
You can pick from many convenient payment options to pay your energy bills, such as direct debit, BPAY, Credit Card and Centrepay. If you’re not comfortable with online or phone banking, you can mail a cheque or money order to Momentum Energy, or alternatively, you can also go to an Australia Post outlet and make the payment in person.
You can sign up for a secure online account, which can help you manage your energy plan better. You can access information about your energy usage, access past bills, edit your details and register for direct debit using your credit card - all from the comfort of your home.
For customers who need support towards paying their energy bills, Momentum Energy administers a number of concessions and rebates on behalf of the different state governments. To check if you are eligible for any of these concessions, you can check their website for the latest information. If you think you could be eligible for any of the schemes, you should contact Momentum Energy to arrange an application on your account.
You can easily move or switch your electricity and gas account with Momentum Energy provided it retails energy in your area. If you are an existing customer who is planning to move, you just need to call Momentum Energy to inform them about your new address. They will then organise your account to be disconnected from your current location and connected at your new property. They will however, need three business days to receive your final meter read before they can arrange for this move. So do make sure you give them enough advance notice.
If you plan to switch to Momentum Energy, you can either fill out an online form or call the energy consultants at Momentum to sign up for an electricity or gas plan. You can call the customer care team anytime between 8am and 6pm, from Monday to Friday.

While the electricity prices are cheap, gas is another story with Momentum. I find the prices to be a bit strangely high considering I don’t use my heater at all or my other gas appliances often. They do offer great instalment plans and the option to extend your due date, though, which is really good. Customer support is lovely.
Momentum are the cheapest energy provider I’ve ever been with, always flabbergasted at how small my bills are. Customer service is lovely, and they are more than happy to help provide solutions when you can’t pay on time. They offer instalment plans, accept concession cards, direct or manual deposit, etc! Just very easy to use for an energy provider. I won’t be switching any time soon.
This provider is easy to deal with on the phone and in person, they keep you informed of any changes to their policies and charges. Great electricity provider, very happy.
