June 2024 Financial Checklist
Brrr! It’s time to pull out those woolly jumpers, folks! June has arrived, which means winter is officially here! With a change of seasons, the end of the financial year and school holidays, June’s set to be a mammoth month!
Thankfully, your favourite monthly read is here to get you through. Your June 2024 Financial Checklist awaits:
1. Lock in your long weekend plans
With the public holiday coming up on Monday, the 10th of June, 2024, for the King’s birthday (that felt weird to write), you might be looking for budget-friendly ways to spend your long weekend.
If you’re based in Sydney, why not venture into the CBD and check out this year’s Vivid light show? You don’t have to spend a fortune – just find a spot with a good view of the harbour, have a picnic, and then wander around the city's free light installations.
Heading out of town? If you’re planning a long weekend road trip, run a quick car insurance comparison before you hit the road to ensure your policy is up to scratch. And don’t forget to call up and make sure all potential drivers are covered.
2. The most important thing to pack on your Euro trip
Speaking of travel plans. Heading overseas to soak up the European summer sun? Before you leave, remember to pack all the essentials – the number one thing (aside from your passport, of course!) being travel insurance.
Trust us, you don’t want to get caught in a pickle overseas without a good travel insurance policy to back you up. And as with any purchase, it’s always a great idea to shop around to ensure you’re getting a good deal. Check out our travel insurance comparison tool to compare policies today.
Don't forget to sort out your travel money options. Why not check out some of our 2024 Mozo Experts Choice Award-winning Travel Money options to get you started?
3. Winter-proof your energy bill
Winter’s well and truly here, folks! But before you crank up the heater or AC, why not try to find other ways to keep warm that won’t send your next energy bill through the roof?
We’re not saying to ditch the heater all winter. But why not opt for lower-cost options, like rugging up in an Oodie or keeping the blinds open to let the sun warm the house throughout the day? You can pick up a heated throw blanket from Kmart or Big W for not too much. They’re cheap to run, too.
If you really want to get a hold of your energy bill though, it always helps to consider your options. Use our free energy comparison tool to see whether you could save by switching.
4. Happy EOFYS!
The end of the financial year is fast approaching, which means one thing – sales! EOFY sales often start in late May and typically run until the end of June. So if you’ve been thinking about making a big purchase, like a new car or holiday – you might be able to find a deal by shopping during the sales.
Make sure to shop around not only for the best price on the vehicle or purchase you’re making - but also compare car loans or personal loans (should you be looking for finance for your purchase) to ensure you’re getting a competitive deal.
5. Let fortune favour the bold this Gemini season
Here’s to another lap around the sun, Gemini! With Saturn spending time in your career house, hard work is bound to pay off at work or in your studies this year. A new promotion may even be on the horizon…
Later in the year, we could see Jupiter’s influence opening the gates for new investment opportunities. Just be sure to do your due diligence and research things thoroughly before diving in. Ensure that anything you take on aligns with your long-term financial goals, Gemini.
That’s a wrap for this month’s financial checklist. It's all done and dusted, folks! We’ll catch you back here next month for your July 2024 checklist. For now, go and have a browse around Mozo’s life and money hub.
