We haven’t had much to do with our home insurance. It was just one we were suggested when we got a home loan so don’t really have a review about them as of yet. But when I’ve had to call them I’ve never had to wait to long to speak to some one and they were always able to help with the enquiry
Had had CGU insurance for years, yes more expensive however more coverage and claim process is great. Wouldn’t feel comfortable going for a cheaper cover as wouldn’t be confident I had enough coverage

I have been with CGU for several years now and have had the bad luck of making a claim. Upon making contact and explaining what had happened I was emailed the claims form, filled it out and posted to them with the repairer's name and details. Within weeks I had approval to purchase a replacement TV minus the excess fee. CGU answered any questions I had along the way and everything was handled professionally. The excess fee was inline with other insurance company's. I was happy with the service I received from CGU.

Absolutely Pathetic. A water damage claim that was wrongly assessed by their builder on a claim that took more than 14 months to have completed. Once the work was completed the same issue in my roof happened in the exact same spot after two days of being fixed and they told me I would need to lodge another claim and pay the excess again. Not to mention the absolutely disgusting customer service Calls were not returned, they do not care about their customer they just care about getting your money into their pockets. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. The below is part of what they called a completed job and refused to fix.
We use a broker to obtain quotes each year and CGU comes out the best each year. We use them for building & contents and landlord insurance. Repaired a flooded house and paid insurance equivalent to rent each week. Excellent for our needs. Then we had a tenants friend drive into front of a different house which was also repaired in a timely manner.
We have made one claim with CGU about four years ago. Very prompt and very helpful. Staff were courteous although the one problem we had was after approving a certain provider, setting up the repairs etc, they decided we couldn't use that provider and they were going to fly someone in from interstate to do the work. Once we pointed out the original provider was local and one they had used in the past. They paid us directly so we could do it on our own say so. Handled it well and generally happy for the most part with them. Expensive but all insurance companies are so not much can be done
Pretty happy with this insurer, they dealt with a couple of failed payments in a relatively painless way.
We had our dryer start fire in laundry, with smoke damage in office as well. CGU were excellent, having cleaners come clean everything down, remove everything from laundry and office. It was big job for them, they did a marvellous job cleaning everything and removing the smoke smell from every room.
