If you are looking for a convenient travel money option for your next overseas trip the Australia Post Travel Platinum Mastercard could be the perfect companion. Firstly, you can load up to 11 major currencies on the one card, lock in your exchange rate before you travel and know that when you’re on the road you’re not going to be charged high foreign transaction fees.
The Australia Post Travel Platinum Mastercard is an extremely versatile travel card which can help you to manage your travel budget effectively.
Unlike most credit and debit cards the AustPost Travel Platinum Mastercard allows you to lock in your exchange rate on up to 11 currencies before you go so you’ll know exactly where your hard-earned vacation money is being spent. Just bear in mind that this only applies to the funds you initially lock in, as subsequent reloads will be subject to an updated exchange rate.
If you need to put more funds on the card while on the road you’ll be able to do so through the Australia Post Travel Platinum Mastercard app or the Australia Post website where you’ll have a couple of reload options:
Via bank transfer (free)
Via BPAY (1% if not booking through 'My Account' or the app)
Via debit card ($5 per debit card load transaction)
Travellers also have access to Mastercard’s worldwide network of ATMs and retailers worldwide so there are plenty of options available when it comes to spending. It’s worth remembering that the card does have a $3.50 AUD foreign ATM fee though.
If something does go wrong overseas you can sleep easy knowing that Australia Post provides 24/7 global emergency assistance at no additional cost, plus they may even arrange for emergency cash to be made available to you.
The Australia Post Travel Platinum Mastercard could be a great option for country-hoppers on set budgets, as the card allows travellers to load up on US Dollars, Euros, Pounds, New Zealand Dollars, Thai Baht, Singapore Dollars, Hong Kong Dollars, Japanese Yen, United Arab Emirates Dirhams, Canadian Dollars and Aussie Dollars before you go.
This is a travel card best used for overseas travel, not for day to day use in Australia. For domestic ATM withdrawals you’ll be charged 2.95% of the value withdrawn.
Also watch out for the $10 cash out fee if you’re wanting to take any remaining funds off your card.
