Frequently Asked Questions about Bank of Melbourne credit cards

How many interest free days will I get with a Bank of Melbourne credit card?

Whichever Bank of Melbourne credit card option you choose, you’ll have 55 days to pay off any purchase before being hit with interest charges.

What fees might I be charged?

With the exception of the no fee credit card, you’ll pay an annual fee on any Bank of Melbourne credit card, which can range from quite low to significant, depending on which card you opt for. Others include an foreign currency conversion fee and cash advance fee.

Can I use my Bank of Melbourne credit card for a balance transfer?

Yes! All Bank of Melbourne credit cards offer a balance transfer option, with a fairly leisurely 0% interest period. You can transfer any amount from $200 up to 95% of your credit limit to help you pay off credit card debt. Just make sure you have a plan in place to pay it off before the interest free period is over, because after that, any remaining balance will be charged interest at the higher cash advance rate.

One little bit of fine print to keep in mind is that you can’t transfer balances from other Bank of Melbourne, St.George or BankSA credit cards.

Can I use contactless payment with my Bank of Melbourne credit card?

Yep! Your Bank of Melbourne credit card works on the VISA network - which means you can use PayWave to ‘tap’ payment for small purchases.

Can I use my Bank of Melbourne credit card while I’m travelling overseas?

Wherever VISA is accepted your Bank of Melbourne credit card is too. Just remember to factor the foreign conversion fees into your travel budget!

What kind of rewards and bonuses does my Bank of Melbourne credit card offer?

If you opt for a rewards credit card from Bank of Melbourne, you’ve got a few different options, and which one you choose will affect how many points you earn on your spending, and also what you can cash them in for. Check out our table below to see how many rewards points you’ll earn through the Bankwest Amplify Rewards Program for each dollar you spend.

One of the great things about Bank of Melbourne rewards points is that they are uncapped and don’t expire, so you’ve got as long as you like to redeem them.

If you opt for an Amplify rewards card you can redeem points for things like gift vouchers, cashback and retail products. If you’ve got a bit of wanderlust, a Qantas card will funnel all your hard earned rewards points directly into the frequent flyers program to help you earn free flights faster.

Great personal service.

Service via phone is always efficient, professional, and courteous. They are the only banking staff that I have found to to seem to actually care about your enquiry or problem ( I have worked in banking and have accounts with various other banks), if they provided all the accounts I have with others at the best rates I would transfer all my banking needs to Bank of Melbourne. Thanks
