ING DIRECT Orange Everyday Visa cashback canned

Aussies used to taking advantage of the 2% cashback offer on ING DIRECT’s Orange Everyday Visa card may be sore this week, as the online provider announced it was discontinuing the scheme.

With interest rates at record lows, and uncertainty concerning further cuts, Aussie spenders are looking to save in whatever way they can, but it won’t be easy with freebie offers like this being taken off the table by providers.

The ING DIRECT cashback bonus has been cancelled for both new and existing customers and transactions that hit customer's account by 30 September 2016 will be the last ones eligible for the offer.

ING DIRECT decided to cancel the 2% cashback offer in favour of focusing on other benefits it said customers appreciated more, including free ATMs. Customers can access ATMs for free with their Orange Everyday Visa as long as that they deposit $1000 or more per month into their linked Orange Everyday account.

Although ING DIRECT recently took out a Mozo People’s Choice Award for Banking and introduced a new low rate on its variable home loan, it remains to be seen if this move will be a blow to its popularity amongst spenders.
