Powershop is giving certain customers $100 off their energy bills, find out why

On Tuesday, energy retailer Powershop announced that it would be partnering with Chargefox, Australia’s largest electric vehicle (EV) charging network, to offer Chargefox customers who sign up to Powershop $100 off their energy bills.

The partnership comes just as the retailer revealed its ‘super off-peak tariff’ for customers charging their EV’s at home, while Chargefox has also revealed plans to open 50 new charging stations around the country.

And according to Interim CEO of Powershop Australia, Catherine Anderson, this partnership will allow EV drivers to charge their vehicle cost-effectively, no matter where they are.

“We recently did research that found 57% of Australians said they would consider buying an electric or hybrid vehicle because it will help reduce their fuel costs,” she said.

“This partnership with Chargefox is another step in the journey to helping change that way Australians think about EVs. We want customers to be encouraged to charge up, instead of fill up.”

Anderson then went on to explain that three of the top five reasons Aussie drivers would consider ditching their current set of wheels for an EV were:

- The price of fuel

- The cost run their vehicle

- The cost to maintain their vehicle

“We want to give our customers a more cost-effective option to charge their EV and be a driving force for EV uptake to help create a better energy future that Australians need and deserve,” she said.
