Bank accounts are a great way to keep your money secure, while still being easily accessible for everyday spending. The ANZ Student Access Advantage account does just that, and comes with a $0 account fees for students. You’ll also be able to use your debit card to make withdrawals at overseas ATMs, but if you do, be aware of the $5 overseas ATM fee and 3% foreign exchange commission.

Key features

If you're a full-time student looking for a solid everyday bank account to stash your cash in, then the ANZ Student Access Advantage account might be just the thing you're after. If you're a student, the monthly account fee will be waived, however, you'll just need to show a valid student card to an ANZ representative at the start of each year to be eligible.

When you open this account, all customers can request the ANZ Access Visa Debit card at no cost. The new accessibility features on this card make it easier for vision-impaired customers to use, so they can get swiping and tapping.

There’s no minimum account balance required to open an ANZ Student Access Advantage account. If you keep $50,000 - $99,999 in the account then you’ll earn 0.01% p.a. in interest, or 0.02% if you have more than $100,000 in your account. Although, if you've got savings reaching this mark you might want to consider keeping your money in a high-interest savings account for a better return on your money.

If you’re travelling internationally, you’ll still be able to use your debit card, however, watch out for the $5 overseas ATM fees and 3.00% foreign exchange commission.

Who is it good for

Long story short, students. With no monthly account fees to worry about, if you're a student, then the ANZ Student Access Advantage account is a great everyday account option and will save you $5 a month as opposed to the standard ANZ Access Advantage account.

Any catches

With the 3.00% foreign exchange commission and $5 overseas ATM fee, withdrawing cash from the ANZ Student Access Advantage account while overseas can become a little costly.

    Easy to use.

Easy to use app and online website. Customer service has been great whenever I go into a branch and plenty of ATMs which I can access. Great thing is there are no fees or extra charges for students. However, there's no rebates or bonuses compared to other banks which could have provided a good opportunity for students to earn some more money on the side.

Good customer service; bad overdraw service.

I like this bank due to the low bank fees associated with the account; it does however take a bit to set up and would be better with a lower interest rate on the overdraw feature on the account.

    Great customer service.

ANZ has been one of my favorite banks as they are trust worthy and able to maintain the standard. I would recommend this bank. They have many branches with ATM and places you can withdraw or deposit money in your convenience.

    Well done ANZ!

Great customer service when enquiring about my son's first Eftpos card. At our appointment they were very helpful, with clear communication and a relatable person for my 13 year old son who explained details and importance of saving.
