Mozo Review   Citi Clear Credit Card Review

Last updated: 20 January 2020.

What's hot:
  • 14.99% purchase rate

  • $0 annual fee in the first year ($99 after)

  • 2019 Mozo Experts Choice Award winner

What's not:
  • High cash advance rate

Mozo snapshot:

Before you see 'free wine' and run off to apply for the Citi Clear credit card take a minute to soak up the other striking features such as a low 14.99% purchase rate, no annual fee in the first year and a low $99 fee after, along with a range of complimentary insurances. These features have earned this card a 2019 Mozo Experts Choice Award in the best Low Rate Platinum Credit Card category.

Key features:

The Citi Clear comes with a low ongoing purchase rate of 14.99%, one of the lowest in the market for a platinum card. The $99 annual fee is also one of the lowest around for a platinum credit card and at the moment you can snag this card with no annual fee in the first year.

And if you're looking to blast some debt before you get started with new spending, this card comes with a 0% interest balance transfer period for 9 months, and no BT fee.

If you're heading overseas, you'll be able to use the credit card wherever Visa is accepted - which is pretty much at most retailers around the world. But remember, for international purchases you'll face a 3.40% foreign exchange margin if you pay on your Citi Clear but this is standard and no deal breaker.

As a Citi Clear card holder you'll get top insurance coverage with up to $200,000 purchase cover insurance for goods lost or stolen within 90 days for any items purchases on your card. Also included is a manufacturers warranty doubled up to 12 months on purchases. And the guaranteed pricing scheme means if you make a purchase on your card and you see it on sale at a later stage, you can get a refund on the price difference.

The Citi Clear card is all about privileges. Receive an award winning bottle of wine every time you dine in a partner restaurant as part of Citi's Dining Program and you'll also get 25% off offers available on Citi World Privileges, which includes deals for shopping, health spas and even a Sydney Bridge climb. You can even get discounted movie tickets. In addition, you get access to the Visa Platinum Privileges program which gives you access to special offers that are much harder for everyday card holders to obtain.

Who it's good for:

The Citi Clear will no doubt knock the socks off anyone who loves a good savings deal with its low purchase rate and those who enjoy a good wine from time to time.

Any catches?

At the moment, this card features a high 22.24% cash advance rate, so steer clear of the ATM!

Latest reviews of Citi Clear Credit Card

  • Overall 8/10
Low interest rates and helpful customer support.

Have found the customer support staff to be helpful and understanding in times where payment is going to be late. They have offered assistance. Be aware of low rate balance transfers reverting to higher than usual rate after transfer term has ended, pretty sure this applies to most banks though.
