For more than a decade, Simply Energy has been powering homes and businesses across several states including Victoria, South Australia, New South Wales and Queensland.
Simply Energy offers electricity plans to domestic, business and commercial customers in Victoria, South Australia, Queensland and New South Wales. At the moment, Simply Energy gas plans are available only in Victoria and South Australia.
Simply Energy offers a range of competitive energy plans from individual electricity options to dual fuel services. The tariffs, discounts and terms of each energy package vary depending on which state you live in and energy plan you choose. You may be eligible for a number of attractive discounts off your electricity or gas bills if you opt for e-billing and pay on time via direct debit or automatic payment from your credit card. Most Simply Energy plans have termination fees, so it’s a good idea to check the exact contract duration and specifications of your energy plan before you sign up.
There is a loyalty rebate available with some Simply Energy plans when you sign up for a contract for 12 months. Simply Energy also offers energy plans exclusively tailored to members of its partner organisations such as RAA, NRMA, Village Cinemas, Big 4 Holiday Parks and WA Seniors. These plans generally offer additional benefits such as bonus gifts and vouchers from online retailers.
You can support the renewable energy industry by adding GreenPower to your Simply Energy electricity plan at any time. When you purchase GreenPower, Simply Energy will purchase the equivalent amount of electricity from accredited renewable energy generators such as wind turbines and solar panels and add it to the national electricity grid on your behalf.
There is a range of energy efficiency solutions on offer to help you reduce your household’s impact on the environment and save money including rooftop solar power systems and LED lighting. Simply Energy also offers customers access to its online store where you can purchase energy saving products.
With Simply Energy you can choose between online, automatic or in person payment methods. You can pay your energy bill via direct debit, BPAY or credit card. If you aren’t comfortable with Internet or phone banking, you can mail a cheque to Simply Energy or pay in person at the post office. You can also register online or download the MyPost Digital Mailbox app which will give you a friendly notification when your Simply Energy bill is issued.
If you think paying your energy bill all in one go each quarter is draining your finances, Simply Energy also gives the option to pay in instalments up until the due date of your electricity or gas bill.
You can manage your customer account with Simply Energy completely online and hassle free. With a digital account, you’ll be able to view your bills whenever you like, sign up for a direct debit agreement and even update your details. To create your online account, simply fill in your customer number (shown on the bottom of your bill), surname and postcode - and you’re done!
You may be eligible for a state based energy concession or rebate on your Simply Energy bill. For instance, there is a Medical Cooling Concession available to residents in Queensland and a Life Support Concession for New South Wales residents who meet the eligibility requirements.

Do not feel happy that they are not Australian owned and also very disappointed that the CEO's of most power suppliers are being paid very high salaries.
I've been with simply energy for many years now, and I have had a few issues with them. Their bills are not very easy to understand and the price always seems to be all over the place and many times they say you owe more than you actually do! I've had to pull out old receipts from months or years prior just to prove that I have paid and it's not what they say it is. There customer service operators are not great either and I have had some rude ones, but there are more nice than not nice! They have a tendency to make you wait ages on the phone, but I seem to be just saying all the negative. There are positive things. They allow payment plans which is a definite must have for my family, and I have been with them a while and not gone to another company, so they must be doing something right. But with the way the world is at the moment, I'll have to wait to see if I do change!
They would do well to offer regular customers some discounts, as they do with people signing up. I only get my rate adjusted if I call them - wouldn't it be better if they sent us their latest deals and information, rather than waiting until we choose an alternative provider? I also think the feed-in rate from solar is way too low. They buy it for a pittance and sell it at a premium when they have not created a single amp. The government sets the rate but the retailer can opt to pay higher- that will encourage people to use the service.
The rate was competitive and the connection service was quick. I was offered free one-year NRMA membership.
