In case you haven’t noticed already, the Australian retail energy market is heating up. There was a time when we had no control over which energy provider serviced our homes, but thanks to energy deregulation in a number of states (NSW, SA, VIC and South East Queensland), we can now choose our energy provider as well as a range of things from the way our power is generated, how we pay our bills to tracking our home’s energy usage. Talk about options!

If you have been wondering whether it’s time to switch, we’ve pulled together this brief snapshot of some of the newer energy providers in the market to see whether they’re a good fit for you.

Plus if are super organised, budget or even environmentally conscious you can head to the online store and take advantage of Powershop Powerpacks and pre-purchase energy to save even more. Sustainable energy is also top of Powershop’s agenda - it was ranked number one in the country by the Green Electricity Guide from Greenpeace Australia in 2014 and it is backed by Meridian Energy, Australiasia’s largest 100% renewable generator.
